Smoking makes me cough
Companies selling death sticks
I wish I could stop

Well shiver me timbers, it's Luna!!! Woo Hoo Hoo!!!

There was a young lady called Luna,

Who wished she had quit smoking sooner,

Better later than not,

Now look what she's got,

A beau who just loves to woo her.

After The Party

The songs are sung; the glasses dry,

Darkness starts to fill the sky.

Smiling friends take their leave

Happy to have shared your joy.

And as you head home all alone

With cheerful memories of your day

I wonder why I wasn't there

And hurt that you're so far away.

But as my day ends every day

I look up to the stars above

I smile and think of what we have

And thank them for your love.

My life's been changed by you alone,

I love you each and every day,

Your name is etched into my heart

And there forever it shall stay.

Hi Poetry Corner Folks
Here's goes with today's poetic license of  a standard ol' cliche:
'Be it ever so humble, there's no drug like oxygen'
I'm breathing today; instead of wheezing! Just clued in this morning !YAY!

An old folk song - but it's kind of how I feel after one week of not smoking, watching the money roll in. :)

My family was poor as the church mice
Even by Newfoundland standards, and then
I met up with certain connections
And oh how the money rolls in

We had an old barn in the country
With a horse trough and a double pig pen
Then we rented it to the Liquor Commission
And, love, how that money rolls in

The Orange Lodge it was close to bankruptcy
Selling meat and cheese for 5 cents and 10
So we tried what the Catholics calls Bingo
And, God, how that money rolls in

Now Bessie Muldoone up on Thomson Street
She had one dirty, broody old hen
Then she joined the ag marketing set-up
And oh how the money rolls in

This year they'll increase the baby bonus
And, although we are living in sin
If I can grab me a man in the morning, oh boy
Then won't that money roll in

Now they say it's hard living in Newfie
But to tell such **** lies is a sin
You just got to know the right people
And then won't that money roll in

Emphysema Dad
Each breath makes your chest shudder
My heart, a knife, a stab
As you try and take another

Emphysema Dad
When can we go and play
I'm only a young lad
Don't leave me Dad, please stay

Emphysema Dad
To me you are fantastic
But here on this clip pad
You're just one more statistic

Emphysema Dad
There's a guy in the next bed
Got gangrene, so he's had
An op - he's lost his leg

Emphysema Dad
Don't smoke, you said, it's dum
The waste, the pain, it's sad
And cancer claimed your Mum

Emphysema Dad
Being cool was one big lie
It's a suicidal fad
I love you Dad, goodbye

State of Mind
If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you'd like to win but think you can't,
It is almost certain, you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a person's will -
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself
Before you can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster woman or man
But soon or late the one who wins
Is the one who believes that he or she can

Hi Poetry Corner Folks!  Tiana's right - heart wrenching words; but oh so true - even as far back as 1604!

Hello Carlos & Kiwi (if you happen by here) - I'd like to join Pen in offering words of condolence to you and all the families affected by the earthquake in New Zealand.  Am glad to hear that you're keeping the faith. Thinking of you. Eya
