I've just quit (yesterday) and I'm now taking notes from all of you who have just posted with all of your idea's for rewards! Some I know I cannot afford - but I can certainly go for the candles, the soaps, personal care items I just love, and who knows maybe in time - a very long time - a vacation! I personally think that a reward for milestones are crucial. But I also believe that little things each day fill that 'pleasure zone' which I used to receive from a cig. I just keep picking up so many useful pieces of information from this site.. it's GREAT ! :) J xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 45 Amount Saved: $10.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 51 Seconds: 45

I love the reward system and have used it to its fullest. The first week I rewarded myself with a cappucino from Tim Hortons, and continued each week with one. I have had massages, facials, pedicures, manicures, bought jewellery, went to Vegas, bought a car, bought little and bought big, the most important is I rewarded myself because I am worth it and so are you!!! It wqorked for me but may not be for everyone. Martha, that was a great post there!! I appreciate that. I am going to come up with more rewards. I have way too many candles now. I think a trip to bath and body works is in order. LOL I really see your point there. I do need to have a reward because Lord knows, I called myself having a reward as a smoker. Great Post and Thank You. Man, will you swap stats with me? LOL LOL Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,102 Amount Saved: $165.14 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 22 Mins: 47 Seconds: 46

Melanie, I just wanted you to know that I appreciated your sharing that. I hope that your husband has much success with his quit, and if a few rewards help to reinforce that success, then I think it's a heck of a good idea! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 768 Amount Saved: $277.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 0 Mins: 14 Seconds: 13

Hmmmm. Maybe y'all have a stronger constitution than I ever had?! I clung to my rewards the first month. Especially the first week. I loved buying candles, air fresheners, Starbucks, perfume, great smelling soaps (are you catching the theme here?). I took baths, walks, rented movies, slept a lot, cooked a lot and cried a lot. That last one may not sound like a reward but I let myself feel whatever I was feeling without putting a lot of pressure to "pull myself together" or worry about what I "should" be feeling. My reward for a LOT of things as a smoker was of course...a cigarette. After a task, after a long meeting, blah blah blah. So replacing those and giving myself something to look forward to was huge for me. Even after 30 days because then the excitement waned and I needed to encourage myself. Just one woman's experience... I must say, I have been doing some early research on a mountain bike (this is my 6 month, money saved purchase). It may have to happen prematurely so I can get some riding in before the dog days get here! Just having me think about getting fit is refreshing and a reward in itself :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,588 Amount Saved: $221.2 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 17 Mins: 32 Seconds: 25
