OK, today is THE day...last puff was about 3 draws yesterday just because I guess...so I wake up this morning and no big deal, no craving, but haven't had those for a few days, ate my cereal, took my Chantix, watched Sports Center, and drove in...first big habit break...lighting up after pulling out of the garage, no problem....drove into work, second big habit breaker, lighting up before walking inthe plant, slight urge, said "Hey Dude, you don't smoke anymore" urge passed, came in to my office. So far, everything is cool. Ready to face a couple of more "triggers" today, like about 2 or 3 hours from now when the morning rush for production planning is over, on the way to lunch and back, and then the walk out the gate this afternoon....so the ship s ready to sail girls...I am feeling pretty good, I just need to stay busy and not THINK too much about the Quit, just do it....I must be off....Mr.Magic.. Thanks Rainie,,,you continue to be the inspiration here, Pat is tomorrow...we are WELL on our way...my wife really hasn't indicated either way how she feels about the Quit, and I haven't pushed her to quit, I know I am taking a chance being around her, but so far it hasn't bothered me, however, when I did get the customary peck on the cheek goodbye, she apologized for smelling like smoke, and she does have a doctor appointment Tuesday and if the Chantix doesn't interfer with the other meds she takes, she told me she will start. So far so good for me today, I guess, I know, there will be some bumps, but one thing I told Pat yesterday was I will not spend a lot a time talking or thinking about it because the more I talk about it I find that is when I start to weaken a bit, and I am going to start picking and choosing some of the posts I read, perhaps it is denial, but I get concerned about myself when I read about someone who had quit and started again after a long time, etc. etc. I will try to stay focused on our journey and the more up beat posts...On we go...Mr.M My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Thanks to everyone for their 1st day support, it was kinda neat to have a co-worker stick his head in the door to ask how I am doing and I just gave him a thumbs up....afternon update...morning went well, went out ot lunch, slight bump in the road coming back from lunch, got over it quickly. Ready to head out for the golf course, and as Katie mentioned when I walk out of the gate, you can bet I will have my head up high, and Katie, the sail is full and we are tacking up wind, which is a good thing. Bullseye, I hadn't looked at myself in the mirror since early this morning, but you can bet tonight I will. Have a great weekend everyone. I know tomorrow brings on another set of challanges...can day 2 be any harder than Day 1? And Day 1 was cake! Actually an orange but you get the point ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Good Morning MrMagic, Let's get this party started!!!!! Will be there to start swabbing the decks in a bit. In honor of your desire for upbeat things today (plus my sleep deprived brain is not awake yet) thought you might enjoy this old joke on your next free minute. If you want to read something that's going to give you a really good belly laugh (at least I appreciate her sense of humor), may I suggest anything posted in the last couple weeks by holygeez. Keep on having a greeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttt day! Pat A guy's walking down the street and sees Little Johnny smoking a cigarette. He says, 'Kid, you're too young to smoke. How old are you?' Johnny says, 'Six.' The guy says, 'Six? When did you start smoking?' Johnny says, 'Right after the first time I got lucky.' The guy says, 'Right after the first time you got lucky? When was that?' Johnny says, 'I don't remember. I was drunk.' Thanks for the afternoon update! I'm so glad you've had such an awesome first day...we're all beaming with pride. How nice to have someone at work cheering you on plus all the people who are so supportive here. You sailed right past the first bump, and every day will put more wind in your sails and less bumps in the water. Keep your head up at all times and every place you go....you're in charge now....here's an orange for energy, and a peice of cake for a small reward. You'll probably get a hole in one on the golf course and I know you deserve it. :) ;) :8|: Happy weekend, Pat PS Thanks for your message of support, sorry my wonderful Mother-in-law likes to talk for hours. It's really OK to be however you are. If reading about others struggling triggers your own desire, then don't read those, and don't feel bad about it either, because your quit is the NUMBER ONE most important task you will ever achieve in your life. When I feel fragile, I stay in the stats parade and the introduce yourself threads. It's so much easier to keep my focus when I am welcoming someone or congratulating them on a milestone. So do whatever it takes to keep your quit safe. You do sooo deserve the freedom. Hey Mr. Magic -Great hearing from you on day 1, sounds like you are doing wonderful. Just must continue to be excited about the quit and the new life that awaits you as a non-smoker. Please be patient with the wife, I believe that once she sees how well you are doing she too will join in on the quit. I know that my husband has been my motivation this time around. I am nearly done with week 2 and it is amazing how much I have changed my daily routine to avoid triggers. But whatever works to get thru the cravings, I am willing to do just about anything - Well to an extent anyway. So when you walk thru that gate leaving work today, hold your head up high and be proud of you for making it thru the day! Keep that sail up high on that ship today, as we all seem to be sailing along peacefully. So keep up the positive attitude and you will be just fine - avoid the negative as it can bring us down. I can't believe you said what you just did. I feel the same way. I noticed yesterday that I was consumed with reading, posting, and reading more about quiting smoking. It made me think more about it and failure. I am with you! I am staying on our ship!
