Today is day 5, I can't say it's been easy, but I want this to happen this time. Hope to have help from this site.

Hi, everyone: Thanks for the messages, although I can only seem to be able to view three of them (I am an almost total beginner on the computer). Good advice. I will try to spend some time today thinking about what it is that makes me keep smoking, and I will have to start my quit again tomorrow, since my lack of preparation (and--what else?) allowed me to keep the rest of yesterday's pack and light up this morning. lladro

Well, here I am on day one(again)! I have been thinking about what allows me to ignore everything but the infinitesimal bit of psuedo pleasure involved and light up, as suggested by Healer Within. I think a weird combo of willfulness and weakness, if that is possible. Thanks for the support, and tips on how to change my quit meter; after the first impulse to smoke when my eyes opened this a.m., the next time I thought about it was, natch, after breakfast, so I brushed my teeth, which helped. I read some of the Quit Workbook last night, and then again just now, and I'm going to listen to the relaxation cd before I go out into the world where there are stores that have cigarettes. lladro My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hello lladro - May I suggest taking some quiet time to reflect and get some clarity as to why you keep going back to smoking (i.e. - is it coping skills that need to be built? Is your commitment strong, focused and grounded, and is your desire to smoke stronger than your desire to quit? W/out finding out what is taking you back to lighting up, it will continue... It sounds like you are coming back w/no new information (IMO)... Take the time to become the observer in these quits so you can find your forever quit, friend... Think of it one day at a time. don't worry about being successful in the future. Succeed today and then concentrate on tomorrow. Becoming accustomed to success can only be done over time.
