Well maybe my post will help you. I took Zoloft for depression. During my time on Zoloft I actually developed Panic Disorder. I was changed to Xanax (same dosage as you) and Lexapro. For a while I only took the Xanax and yes, eventually that one was not enough so I actually take 1 1/2 when I feel panic but if I am in a full blown panic attack I take 2 of them. OKAY with my doctor. Now then..... Because I was not liking just depending on the Xanax, and really it was not helping the panic per say, it was just getting me through them. I started on the Lexapro. At the first week just 5 mg, Second week 10 mg and now I am on week 3-4. The first week was not so great at all. My anxiety was hightened and the side effects (belly pain and anxiety) were worse. AFTER the first week, the side effects went away and I am doing great. I actually can go days without even touching the Xanax. If you will read, they say that Lexapro is actually the faster acting medication. It only takes approx. 2 weeks to get the full effects. The side effects in the start are not so great but they do pass. I stuck it out and I am glad I did. I feel 90% better then I did even 2 weeks ago and I find myself UNable to even get panic. Good luck, I know it is frustrating.
