Hi Ashley,
Visualization #1: I would be in the country and I would feel peaceful. I've been thanked in the past for rescuing animals, because the new owners love them. So, bringing rescued pets to their new owners would be it. I don't picture people not smiling, because I've made peace with them in the past. And, if they hold onto grudges or choose not to forgive, then that's on them, not me. I've forgiven them. I have a clean conscience.
Visualization #2: What the billboard would say; "Take Responsibility for Your Pets for Their Entire Lifetime." Spay and neuter your pets. If you breed animals, take the responsibility for the lives you bring into this world. If an owner doesn't want them anymore, take them back and find a new home for them or keep them for the rest of their lives. Do this for the remainder of all of your pet's lives. Eliminate shelters and the killing of millions of pets.
Visualization #3: I would expect my future self to be the same as I am now, caring for animals and their welfare and well being. I would ask if the world has improved and if there are still shelters and irresponsible pet owners. I would be encouraging and say, keep up the good work and save as many animals as you can, because even if it doesn't eliminate the problem, it matters in the lives of the animals you do save and it matters to the new owners who's lives you have touched. I would give myself the gift of my saved money, so I could continue to afford to help animals.
I'll be honest, I was a bit skeptical about this exercise, but after having done it, I see the purpose in it and I'm glad I did it and didn't pass over it. Thanks Ashley.
Shari
