Quote of the Day Part Two

Just a thought, but if God knows what you need before you ask then does that mean he knows what you are going to do before you do it. With that thought since you still have to ask for what you want should you not also not do what he knows you are going to do if it offends him. It is always better to not do something (to anyone) than to have to say sorry after.

Use the losses and failures of the past as a reason for action, not inaction.
- Charles J. Givens

Yesterday, instead of meditating the way I usually do with the "mind", I decided to declutter, as a different kind of connecting with my God.  I thought it might be more in line with my need to align with my goals.

I did this since I'd heard there are different ways of praying, basically dividing into comtemplative and active approaches.

Davit,
Great idea.  I don't think it's the safest, but if I'm around, mom won't do it unattended.  It's also a month where traditionally candles were used for the reverence of those who have passed on.  I'd used incense, but mom doesn't like the smell.

The only limits are, as always, those of vision.

Hugs

Try burning a candle or two to get rid of the cooking smells.

The will to conquer is the first condition of victory.
- Ferdinand Foch

Will is really important to me, as I discover how my motivation works.

One thing I'm finding is that sometimes I get fed up with something to the point I wish to do something.  An example is cooking, and wishing to have an air exhaust.  When cooking, I try to air out the exhaust, and also  find that smells keep in the house, and I've become tired of this, finally.  One remark on motivation was that the "...when the pain of staying where you are  is perceived as greater than the pain of the change, that change looks better, and you get working on it..."

I need to add that to a list of things to get done, before winter sets in.

The man who tries to do something and fails is infinitely better than he who tries to do nothing and succeeds.
- Lloyd Jones

Constant criticism and antagonistic behaviour from a sibling makes me wonder why I waste time asking for help, since the emotional stress is too great.

Rohit,
I wish life was that easy.  With "No" sometimes it means yes, and non-verbal language is very important.

You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.

Davit,
See how attitude plays a part.  The dictionary definition suggests it's a matter of degree, and that one upsets one's life, where eagerness means life is going along more smoothly.

I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying.
- Tom Hopkins
