I've been dealing with throbbing headaches as well. I don't do decongestants either. I use saline solution which helps and an over the counter antihistamine which makes me sleepy. I guess that's better than being jittery :) I also have a deviated septum, but it doesn't really inhibit my breathing. So, I can pass on a nose job :) I'll be 50 on Sept. 21st. I wonder if I could be on the cover of Cougar Magazine - ha ha. Thanks for the laughs; it's a great way to start the day! You have a great sense of humor!

Hi Shari,

Thanks for the support. Dealing with ragweed wasn't prudent, as I started pulling it yesterday. I guess I don't understand how a silly little plant can be so harmful! My throat closed up nearly, and I had a throbbing headache. I don't wish to take a decongestant, since it makes my heart(and mind) race, but nasal teapot rinse just isn't cutting it.

And of course, since it's chronic, I have to start to think about a nose job. Gee maybe I'd look "prettier"

It's Shari. I had some free time before my move to Florida and dropped in to say, "Hello." I'm having the same ragweed issue. I'm a very indecisive person also. We are all doing the best we can do and make the best decisions we can at the time. Our thoughts torment us sometimes. If you only knew how many times I ping pong-ed the idea about, should I go to Florida or should I stay here, and all the "what if's". But, a lot of times choosing one path over another path isn't necessarily right or wrong. I think sometimes we have to step out and try a path and if that one seems to not work, then go and try another path. The key is to keep trying until you see what works. A lot of times we put too much pressure on ourselves which adds to the pressure of the actual situation. We need to be kind to ourselves. What would you tell a friend who is in your situation? I'm sure you would be kind, supportive and patient. If we can do this for others, why can't we do it for ourselves? I'm part Italian, so we seem to have a common friend, or rather enemy, - guilt. I think you're a great person and you are doing a great job and you are doing the best you can do. Prayer helps me also and there are lots of positive scriptures to replace negative thoughts. Keep up the good work!

Worry has sucked the life out of me. Now I feel guilty since it's subtracted from mom's life, friends who have disappeared, and work, where I had to leave.

The other day, I sat in disbelief, when another person went thru a similar situation with ease, while I've felt tormented, and suffered with others. I think some people are amused, and some are just irritated by whatever I do when I have a simple decision.

I've seen people wear this t-shirt which reads "CHOOSE LIFE".

I seem to be wearing a t shirt reading "CHOOSE INDECISION".

I need some rest, since I have either a summer cold or ragweed is taking it's toll.

Since religion has been so helpful, I'll look for the biblical reference to worry, keep some thought records handy

Just wanted to let you know my heart and prayers are with you and your mother as you go through this difficult time..This fear you mentioned feeling I think is the same fear I felt when my husband was ill and also when he was in the hospital..I felt his fear which caused me to have a lot of fear and stress..plus all the responsibility and decisions to be made as a caregiver were unbelievable..I wanted to share with you that my faith helped me more than anything else during these times..and gave me comfort..it was and is still something I can count on and turn to. I have read posts from you about going to church and such so I am hoping that this spiritual side of your life helps you and gives go comfort now too...Just like it did me..

Maybe I could use this experience as a learning of the new mazes in the hospital system, and work with them rather than fear the exceptions

Today while mowing I disturbed a lot of mice who went running with their little hearts pounding. I wonder if the memory of their close call effects their thinking.

S..t happens to mice and man alike as Robby Burns stated so well. I don't know how it affects mice but I know man tends to let it affect their life far too much. Maybe my many stays in hospitals has taught me acceptance and tolerance, I don't know. What I do know is that unless a person learns this they will never get away from the anxiety that is ruining their life.

Fearing making a mistake, I postpone making decisions, and I re-enforce my negative view of myself, thinking I'm not a good son. I think others might feel stress in my position. Also, I've had a lot of obstacles in my life, and overcomed them, but I forget where I come from, expecting too much.

There's so much I'm afraid of, and I feel my moms fear at the hospital, where there are people who are much worse off. I'm wondering if it's the best place for her, and I occasionally ask her if she's okay there. One fear is that she'll be angry later, but there are activities daily. Today she played a computer simulation game with others, and a "sit and dance" activity. But I felt hurt when she had her evening spoiled since I left for half an hour to get something to eat, while I'd cued up her soap opera, which my brother had taped. There was something else taped, or the olympics cut into the taping of my brother's pvr burn to a CD.

Somehow fear is taking over where love could be, but that's a risk we all take when we make ourselves vulnerable, isn't it?

After mom was hospitalized, I find I got tired of the same casseroles for a week, and am not sure what to do. Take out is so unhealthy, and I don't want to cook. I think I'll call a dietician, to see if I can alter my meal plan, since mom will be away for over a month.
