Drop in and say hello

Hi everyone:  Davit says hello - we are up to our ears in drywall.  We are renovating and right now are constructing a fairly large utility closet which will hold all the wine making paraphanalia (sp.?) and the dog food and the cat food and all those extras for which you never have the room.  And we are looking at doors and windows for this spring's additions.  Luckily we like the same things - well, almost, lol.   and looking at paint colours too.  I'm a monochramatic type, Davit likes contrast.  Yikes.  ahahaha, well, we'll have to communicate, right?  He says if I keep him real busy, he won't notice if I get my way.  As if....
In any case, keeping a good sense of humour and a genuine desire to keep positive and respectful of one another's likes an dislikes should allow us to have some compromise without stress.

Hi:  made shortbread and my favourite almond cookies today.  Davit is making his favourite right now.  Tomorrow making the spirengle (sorry, spelling?).  I like a German stollen too.  Still lots to bake.

On another note i think i found out why my dog won't go any further along a certain road.  There is a trapper working a trap line off this main road.  Maybe she smells different animal scents.  He also came over to tell us a cougar has been spotted in the area.  He drew in the snow what it might look like if a cougar was to go by - yes, my eyes and ears are wide open. lol.

Going to cut some boughs and decorate the house with them soon.  Love the scent of fresh cut greens.

Debora

I have special two layer insulated cookie sheets that don't burn the bottoms. Before that I just used the higher rack settings. Good luck with the cookies.

Davit.  My traditional cookie is a date filled rolled oatmeal cookie. Big and heavy.

Hi Sunny,

What a peaceful serene day you described! I am glad you relaxed and did fun things. The Christmas lights sound pretty. We do not have our big tree up I have a little pink one on my vanity in my bedroom, I like too look at it its peaceful and calming.

I am going to try and bake cookies. I can cook or bake almost everything EXCEPT cookies it seems! I burn the bottoms and the tops do not get done? My husband likes those butter cookies, with the jam in the middle, and hazelnuts on around the top, I think you call them "Jam thumbprints", one day this month I am going to attempt to make them again, last year did not go so good and that was even before I started panicking badly, last December was alright for me, I got bad in January so I am hoping this Christmas is good for me and my family too. If I mess the cookies up I will buy some but I would like to bake them myself, someone told me too use parchment paper perhaps that will help, I have to decorate some more too.

You're wreath sounds awesome, our outside is decorated a lot my husband gets a thrill out of it, high electric bill but its very pretty, I am going to try to throw myself in the holidays and get in the spirit, I am saying my Christmas Novena too, I hope we all have a wonderful holiday, I miss the snow you are lucky I bet it is so beautiful, the falling snow and pretty lights. Its great too hear from you!

Hi:  just saying hello.

'Tis the holiday season.  Christmas movies are always nice to see especially the old standbys such as the old black and white Scrooge and It's a Wonderful Life.  Deb., glad to hear you will be relaxing tonight watching one.

Baking goodies is fun too.  I especially like the smell of the kitchen when baking gingerbread.

I made a freshcut spruce wreath for the door and a container filled with spruce branches and red berries.  Looks festive and I enjoy it every time I go out.   I forgot to turn the Christmas lights on the apple tree and the chicken coop so when a neighbour dropped in late afternoon, he asked where they were.  He said he enjoyed seeing them all lit up, so that was nice to hear.  I turned them on right away.

The dog stayed and lay down in the same room as the two cats with us and we all had a lazy hour or so listening to music and sipping some of Davit's famous wine.

That was a very nice and pleasant interlude to our day.

AM

I have chronic staph infection. Not MRSA thank God. It has an affinity for all the metal in my body and lives where there is no blood flow to it so there is no way to float an AB to it and kill it. Few AB will cross into an artificial joint or a pinned joint. When I get run down it has the opportunity to raise havoc by escaping into nearby soft tissue till I can raise the antibiotic enough to kill it. See it can swim so it can travel where the antibiotic can't. It lives on proteins used to replace cells as they wear out. I've been working on a deck and missed the warning signs. The flare up has subsided again. It will be a few days before I am back to normal which is not all that good to start with.
So you can imagine the pain. I should have been in the hospital on IM antibiotics but this nurse and an uncaring doctor decided I didn't need to be. She lied to him and he made his decision based on that rather than see me. It will not happen again.

I have had flare ups for eight years since first getting Staph in my knees. They are usually short if I can get care right away.

Davit
