Brenda.

I'm borderline diabetic. Bananas before bed give me anxiety. As do apples. I don't know if it is the potassium or the sugar. When a person develops panic attacks things that normally do not bother you become triggers. The good thing is that although you may have to avoid certain things and routines you can reinstate them when you are cured. Many people have to give up coffee for instance but can go back to it when they are cured.
Did you know that scalding milk releases tryptophan a chemical that helps with sleep.
Journaling during a panic attack will show you the illogic of the attack and bring it to a close faster.

Just some babble and trivia.

Thank you Ashley..
I do write in a journal everyday..i walk alot,i do try to think on positive thoughts,i take a nice warm bubble bath before bedtime, and tonight,i drank some warm milk and ate half a banana,my grandmother always says that helps you sleep better, and she is right about that..
Sometimes,i read something pleasing to me,i love romance novols..or,i start cleaning out closets,or doing laundry.
All this may not be the right things to do..but i keep trying new things!

Welcome Bren,

You have certainly come to the right place.  This program has been proven to work and many members can attest that if you put the work in it can change your life.

How do you plan to get started on the program?  What  schedules, procedures or mind sets can you work on to ensure you stick with the program?  Just to give you a little tip, rewards are always excellent motivators

A question to get the ball of motivation rolling: How will your life be different if anxiety didn't hold you back?

Brenda.

Hi. Welcome to the site. Your doctor I presume wants you to take Zoloft because it is less addictive than The benzo's but it is debatable if you think about dependance instead. CBT is the only thing that cures. Everything else just helps. You could try it. For many antidepressants are a lifeline. The program works but it takes time. And If you have panic bad time is about all you have left. I remember waking up every night between two and three in the morning. I remember wishing I could just die and get it over with. I remember pacing up and down the driveway in the middle of the winter freezing and sweating at the same time. There are people who have gone through what you are going through or something similar.
This is not just a chat site where people babble away. It is a help site. A group of people with similar conditions that have a lot of useful ideas and information. And some of us that no longer suffer but stay any way because of the support we can give to people like you. I hope you will do the program and get the peace it has given to others.

Hello..
I am new here, and this is my first post....
I am trying to cope and understand, why i am going through all this anxiety and panic!
Its is now 3.30am,and it woke me up,i tried to calm myself, but it did not work,so i got up,and now typing this..i do have some issues i need to deal with, medical type, such as a bad back, that causes alot of pain..
Right now,i am taking zanaflex to help with the pain and spasms in my back and legs..i do have a neurologist, and a pain doctor i see,i do have alot of stress,but...this panic and anxeity gets me down!
I have been on zanax and valium before for it,and that helped so much..but the doctor i see now, will not prescribe it???
He wants me to take zoloft instead..i know that is an anti depressant, and i am so fearful of alot of meds, mainly because of side affects they have on me..been there before, and its not fun to go through that aswell as the panic!
I cant count the times i have went to the er only to be told it just anxiety!
So...i found this site.by web surfing for help.....I am willing to try this and see how well it works out for me....
thanks
bren
