Things have been going quite well since my doctor gave me some meds to help me sleep, no anxiety to speak of really. The last few days I have reduced the amount I take from 1mg. to .05mg...not wanting to quit all at once. I am still getting sleep and can seem to cope if a few anxious thoughts come along but I often worry about what my sleep will be like once I stop that med. altogether. I'm still on amitriptyline but just can't seem to stop worrying about whether I will sleep or not.
The lack of sleep always makes the anxiety unbearable and I suppose I'm afraid of going through it again. I have considered trying more natural approaches i.e. lemon balm tea and other sleep aids such as Rest and Sleep which contains valerian and other herbs.
Is this a wise approach....I do plan to ask my doctor on Monday when I see him but I think many medical doctors don't put much salt into the herbal approach. Also would consulting a naturopath be good move? Would like to hear your thoughts.
