Mantras work or repetition. With the box breathing say ,"I am fine on the in breath, and I am really fine on the out."
Reinforcements. You may not be aware of this but if you think something it gets stored in one spot and if you write it, it gets stored in another and if you say it out loud it gets stored in a Third. Three spots for one thought. So when you have a negative thought, do just that but repeat a positive thought a few times and you will bury the negative thought and it will stay buried unless you actually go looking for it which for the first while you might. ( like sticking your tongue in a tooth ache). Journalling really works to store positive thought. Especially if you say it out loud also. Actors do this to remember there lines. And it works for them. There are lots of comments in the posts about how well this works. Please try it.

Davit.  Who did it the hard way so you don't have to.

Hi davit i like the way you put that it really made me understand abit more in what is going on in my mind! i agree with this becasue i find that the more i have negative thoughts the more attacks i have! but how do we put this stuff to the back of the pile? xxx

That's a great analogy Davit, very clear to me!

A little computer comparison here. In a top of the line computer all information is stored in order of use not in the order it was read. So the more you use something the closer to the top of the pile it is so it can be brought up fast and fast is what sells computers.  Now your mind works the same way. Things you use or have a great interest in are stored at the top. Unfortunately when you start to think negative and dwell on negative things you move them to the top and so when you panic that is what your mind thinks you want because it is the most used thing in the pile. You cannot unlearn any thing because the mind stores every thing. But what you can do is move it to the bottom of the pile by repeating positive things and trying to think positive about every thing so that the top of the pile with the most accessible thoughts are the ones you want and if you want to think negative you will have to work at it and usually before you can dig that far down you have moved on to something else. Does this make any sense to you? It is like stocking shelves make sure the stuff you want the most is most handy.

hey davit ,
Thanks for the reply, yup defo has happened to me, in a way having the anxiety is abit comfort i a very very werid way! at the moment am trying to break the cycle and this program is really really helping, am starting to feel me again! a massive comfort for me is reading everyones posts and stories it helps to realise that am not the only one! i also read that we need to unlearn this anxiety but how we unlearn it that would be like unlearining how to read or think? x

Yes, that is the idea just the wrong word. What happens is you become conditioned, like Pavlov's dog. It happens because it is easier to give in than fight. Does this happen to you?

Hey everyone, i have done loads of research and i have found that alot of people are saying that anixety can become addiction and even tho it causes us so much pain and grief we get addicted to it and as soon as we start to feel abit off we bring the attacks on ourseleves!
What do u think??
