Hi everyone,
I usually grab a paper and pen when ever I get anxious and write or draw as much as I can... it helps as distraction to me too.

There have been times when tracking the cause of my panic or replaying it has caused the panic to increase for sure.  This is one of the times when I feel short term us of medication can help as long as the medication is used to help you track. If you use the medication so you don't have to face the problem then you will go backwards instead of forwards. Using medication so you can do the program easier is fine even though it will take you longer likely. Using Medication so you don't have to is not acceptable as far as I am concerned.

Some people receive immediate relief from their panic attacks or anxious thoughts as soon as they start monitoring them. Keeping track helps them feel more in control. For other, as soon as they start tracking their physical symptoms, thoughts and behaviors they may find that things get worse. Tracking symptoms forces people to look at their symptoms and avoidance behaviors causing them to realize how much panic and anxiety has disabled them. This awareness can lead to increased feelings of anxiety and even depression. These feelings will not last and the more involved in the program you become and familiar with your symptoms thoughts and behaviors, the more in control of you will start to feel.

Members, please share your experiences when you first started tracking your symptoms. If you’re just starting, let us know how its going.
