anxiety- loss of appetite, weight loss

TexanFemme76,

It is good to hear that you were able to eat at your Thanksgiving dinners, even if they were small portions. Do try to sneak in nutritious snacks here and there if you can, your body will appreciate it!

I have experienced some changes in my appetite. I still get hungry but I only eat enough to "quiet the rumble". And I have noticed an increase in the craving for sugar - cake, cookies, ice cream, popsicles... I did eat Thanksgiving dinner (twice actually, once at my gf's aunt's house and then again at my sister's) but they were small plates of food. It's weird how my appetite fluctuates...

Happy Thanksgiving Colleen,

I tired Celexa for a little while many years ago and it did not work for me. The thing is that not all meds work the same for everyone. Some people work well with it and others don't. I hope it is the right one for you.

As far as the weight loss, I can relate to you on that. As soon as I start having panic attacks, it seems like everything shuts down. I just don't want to eat at all. Days go by and I don't even want to smell food. Then I start feeling dizzy and everything feels worse because of the lack of food. The panic really attacks my desire to eat and sure enough I start losing weight, which is not a good thing if you are already thing. When my panic is bad I start drinking Ensure (liquid nutritional supplement). It helps to keep me from complete starvation and gives me a few nutrients that I am not getting because I don't eat. Whenever my panic starts to subside I usually get very hungry again and my appetite returns. My mothers neighbor gets full blown panic attacks but for some reason it makes her even hungrier than usual. Me, I just want to barf thinking of food. So, I can understand a little of how you feel. I hope this passes for you real soon. I have been having panic troubles for the last couple of weeks and not eating much at all again. I hate this roller coaster. Get well soon!

Hi Colleen,

It sounds like you are going through a lot right now.  Good for you for taking action by coming back to the site.  Are you planning on working through the program again?  What has worked for you in the past?

Hi everyone. I have been away for awhile but had some deaths in the family and marital probs triggered full blown panic and anxiety again. As usual, it hits me in the guts.....dont want to eat, nausea, heart pounds, adreniline rushes and it goes on for days or weeks. I went to the doc and he gave me .25 xannax 2 x day and started me on celexa. he said it would be a couple weeks for the celexa to work.
sometimess the sound of my husbands voice makes me panic....we have issues. other times, i just wake up on edge.
anyne tried celexa? does anyone experience weight loss/loss of appetite?
thanks for any advice!
