Hey Minnie! Thanks for replying to my success post! Long time! Glad to see you around! .

Sorry you are having a tough time with the bus! I think your idea of doing exposure work on the weekends when there is no pressure is great! That is how I did it! I had bus phobia too. I am getting much better at it now! I would add something or write down a nice step by step plan, but Sylvie started you off really well. Sounds like what I did lol. A tip I used, I don't know if it will be of any help to you. Is when I have to take a new bus route and that makes me anxious all over again, I ask a safe person to take that bus route there and back with me once during the weekend. Then I do it myself during the weekend. So by the time the week comes along I know the bus route and it is less scary. But this is for later. First, the exposure just to get on the bus in needed and I think Sylvie gave you a great plan!Hang in there! If I am starting to get this, you will too!!!

Minnesota,   That's a great idea.  Here are a few steps to an exposure plan that will set you up to succeed and feel great about taking the bus.   If you're feeling anxious, first of all walk to a bus stop, sit on a bench, and watch buses and traffic.   2. Go to the same bus stop and ride on a bus for one stop. Sit near the door or window . Get off after one stop, walk back to the bus stop, and repeat for 1 hour.   3. Repeat step 2 but ride on the bus for two stops. Repeat for 1 hour.   4. Repeat step 3 but ride on the same bus for 5 stops. Get off, cross the street, and ride a different bus back to your original bus stop. Repeat for 1 hour.   5. Repeat step 4 except sit near the back of the bus or away from the door.   6. Repeat on a different bus route.   7. Ride a bus to the shopping mall, get off, wait for the next bus and return.   8. Eide a bus to the bus station, get off, wait for the next bus and return home.   You can make your own plan following this one, try it out and let us know how it works!   All the best,     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

HI, I noticed when I do self talk I say " you will be fine"..to myself, why dont I say" I will be fine"..who am I talking to when I say "You"?..I just realised that.
Also I'm having a hard time taking the bus..I had a panic attack on the bus, and its not busy or crowded, but I just am scared of being scared of having a panic attack!!! I feel like i want to take it but then I go there to the stop and I just freeze.  I started going to work again, and now i'm holding myself back by not being able to jump on the bus and get around again..i'm so frustrated.  I might try take it not when I have to go to work but when i have the day off, this way I wont feel the pressure..any suggestions?
