Members,

Let's focus on the positive. What sort of things do you do on a daily or weekly basis that make you happy?

Thank you so much for all the support.  My husband is happy that I found somewhere I can talk about this openly and freely.  He says that knowing that I am not the only one who suffers from anxiety will help me cope and get control over my attacks.  I am so happy I found this site!

Hello Drielly,   Welcome to our support centre. You have reached a great place for advice, support and encouragement.   Please post as often as you need to and share your experiences and comments. The program will also help you to discover many things about yourself and is intended to help you work through some of the issues. It takes effort but is definitely worthwhile.   Good luck and keep us posted!     Faryal, Health Educator

Hiya drielly,

I just wanted to welcome you to the forums! So welcome! And as for the choking and having trouble eating thing, it seems to be common enough. If you search the forums you will find whole threads on the subject. Members in the past have discussd this and I am sure they would again to support you.

The program here is super and I hope you give it a shot. Plus, feel free to post here anytime, the people here are great!

Hi Ya Breanne:

I know you mean well but there are not many positive things in my life.  There is instead a lot of frustration and anger.  To tell you the truth with this past year and half of mental torture I really don't know what would make me happy anymore.

Sorry to be such a downer, I know you are only trying to help.

cadenmccallum,

What about writing out a list of all of the positive things in your life. Include all of the things that you enjoy doing and things or people that make you happy. Next time you are feeling agitated or angry, take the list out and read it, and see how you feel.
And don't forget, we're always here for you

Hello! I am new here and saw this discussion and decided it may help me to talk freely and safely about it so here I go.

Are you having a hard time?
Yes, a very hard time.   About a week or so ago maybe two weeks, I was eating and all of sudden I felt that I was choking.  I know I wasn't actually choking because I was talking and breathing, but experiencing a lot of panic symptoms.  I felt dizzy, shortness of breath, the lump in my throat, naseous, ect...Now every time I eat its a struggle and an ordeal because Im afriad I am going to choke and I haven't eaten the things I usually enjoy and stick to things like soup or ceral(which I am nervous about) and things like that.  I feel like I am going to end up in some psych ward.

How are you coping?
I alsways have my husband or someone next to me that I am close to while I eat and I try to remind myself that I am fine and that it is just my anxiety that is making feel this way.

What triggered it?
I think the incident two weeks ago might have triggered it but to be honest I have had some panic attacks in the past year and they have gone away and reoccured within weeks or months in between.  But now they are every day sometimes more than once a day.

Hi Ya Guys:

Times seem to be getting harder and harder, a lot of agitation, anger.  Then the feedback loop starts, getting agitated about being agitated, getting angry about being angry and then the depression sets in.  I always have to be doing something, when this GAD started out initially I wasn't like this.  It seems the longer it goes on the worse I get.

 How am I coping?
Not very good at all.  I push myself to go to class everyday and do the homework.  I do my Tai Chi everyday, which seems to be the only thing that sort of calms me.  I go to relaxation class every week, but everyday I inevitably break down and have a good cry.

 What triggered it?
Sometimes I don't even know, my nerves are so raw.  People riding their bikes on the sidewalk, drivers in cars not stopping at the crosswalks, people who can't wait for my mum who has a walker - they are constantly rushing by her, people in my class who have real anger management issues and nearly start fights in class, way too ,much english homework.  Just to name a few, I could go on but I think everyone gets the picture.
