Hi Beth, " Why does the anxiety just pop up". I know the feeling - in my case as soon as I have had a good day , anxiety seems to pop back. Like today I am going to see my psychologist and I noticed the whole night and early morning I feel anxious with new symptoms. So why does this anxiety pop up- could be biological or perhaps it could be that anxious people may never be able to get rid of the anxiety completely. We could successfully manage our symptoms but anxiety will probably always be part of us. So when it pops up - perhaps we could acknowledge that it is present and then let it go as best as we can and not be too hard on ourself that the anxiety is back. I wish I was at the stage you are in Beth, for me since I had started the program as I had to search out for anxious thoughts and panic situations, I think I have felt worse as my critical self is thinking that I am more panicky than I thought I was and I guess I have to challenge this thought. I think also that it goes to show that when you look for something, you will find it. And I also think that when everything seems to be going well, some part of our subconsious brain must say something like" Hey this is too good to be true, where are you anxiety and anxiety and panic just pop up" So you have nothing to worry Beth. Have a good day :)

I was just making the chocolate cream pies for today's dinner and all of a sudden my heart starts racing and I start to think "What if I have a heart attack on Thanksgiving Day?" I continued to make the pies and talking to my son who was putting away dishes so that I could wash the pans I have used this morning to bake. I know this is an old question but why oh why does this anxiety just pop up?? I know it is a defense mechanism but I dont need protecting from my chocolate cream pie for goodness sake!!! :( What is up with this??? Yes I am tired and yes I have turkey day stress but it isnt bad stress it is fun stress for me. I love baking and I love how the house smells on Thanksgiving Day. I love the parade on TV and I love football so what gives??? Wow how ironic- on the TV the Macy's Day Parade is on and they just had a float for The Polar Express and as I was sitting here feeling overwhelmed all of a sudden I heard the song "If you just believe" . What a beautiful song and the words are so true. We all have to believe that we can get back to that great place we want to be. I CAN DO IT!! BACK TO THE KITCHEN FOR ME!!
