Feel like I'm losing it!!!!!

Hi I'm totally new to the panic center but I've been reading peoples posts and i feel like I'm not the only one suffering with this. I wanted to reply to you because the feeling you describe is a new symptom of mine and youre right, its really horrific! I sometimes feel like the ground is rushing up to meet me and that im bobbing up and down like on a boat and my head feels totally spacy, like ive gone mad and im living in a bubble. I just wanted to say hang in there cos you might feel like youre going mad but youre not, Its really admirable that you're even making it in to work feeling like you do. I took the easy way out and quit my job, I couldnt act normal anymore, so you should be really proud of yourself!

Hey there, Becky. As I mentioned in my other post, my psychiatrist says these feelings are a side effect of extreme anxiety and panic disorder. I've been trying to just 'go with the flow' when it comes to these feelings. It is like the body is just putting up a self-defence feeling, to protect you from your anxiety. I'm sure with time, these feelings will pass. After all, nothing can last forever.

You're welcome! The only thing that helps me through those moments is just telling myself over and over, you've been through this a million times, you know it's just anxiety, everything's ok, you're not going to fall over or pass out, etc.... etc..... It gets discouraging sometimes. But, all can we do is face the fear for what it is and eventually get past it. Try not to spend too much energy thinking about it though because the more time you think about a symptom, the longer it lasts and the worse it gets. I know what you mean about thinking about quitting your job because of the anxiety. I work in a doctor's office and am surrounded by people all day and some days it just makes the anxiety fly off the wall. I keep thinking, maybe if I just got a more solitary job where I don't have to be around people all day that maybe it would help. I used to work for a company where I had my own office and hardly saw anyone all day and I took this job with the idea that it would be great exposure work because I have a lot of social anxiety. I've been here a year and a half now. The anxiety is nowhere near as horrifying as it was when I first started (talk about being spaced out all day - I hardly remember those days I was so out of it!!). The anxiety is still there, but it's not as bad. Some days I do feel like just giving up, but.... all you can do is keep working on it and keep going. :confuse: - OIY - You're not alone by any means!! We're here for you! ;)

Thank you vickers! I felt like I was losing my mind. I had to get my husband to take me to my therapist yesterday because the spacey, floating feeling was so bad. It really scares me, it's so hard to function. I felt like going to the doctor and asking for an MRI, it was that bad. So far, and I thank God, it's not as bad as yesterday. I'm setting here at work, ready to quit my job because I feel that the job is contributing to it. Thanks again for your reply letting me know that I am not alone. Becky

Hey Becky! Just wanted to let you know that the spacey, out of body experiences you are feeling is just the anxiety. It could be the meds also, but everyone here gets that feeling whether they are taking meds or not. I notice that the more anxious I am, the more spaced out I feel. I haven't taken any meds for about 2 years. I took Paxil for 7 years. The spaciness is with me practically every day. Except for the days I am home and in my "safe place." As I type this, I feel like I am floating. Things around me aren't real. I hate this feeling!! But, I know it's just anxiety. It's not dangerous and you will be ok. Ride it out. It can take minutes, hours or even days. Sometimes, I feel like this is how it's always been and will always be. But, have hope because it does go away eventually. It comes back. But, it will go away. I know that's not very reassuring, but just remember it's normal and you are ok.

Becky, Thanks for sharing. The members will be along shortly to share their experiences with you. Take the time to use the Panic Dairy and note when the anxiety is hitting. This can help pinpoint areas to work on. Try challenging those thoughts and pushing forward. Please continue to work with your pharmacist and doctor, they have excellent knowledge regarding dosages and side effects. I cannot begin to tell you how horrible the last couple days have been. I have had this spacey, unreal feeling in my head that would not stop. I felt like I was going to fall over. My anxiety went sky high...it was a nightmare. I went to the doctor a couple months ago for depression and was given Paxil; the paxil made may anxiety go up, so she give me Risperdol to go along with it, which made my anxiety even worse. She then gives me Zyprexa to take along with the Paxil. My anxiety is still up so she tells me to stop the paxil ( I was only on 5 mgs). I stopped the Paxil, but am still having bouts with the spaciness in my head, I can barely work. I called the Pharmicist and he said that Zyprexa could cause the spaciness in my head. I tried to call my doctor to see how to lower the dose, I am on 5 mgs., she never returned my call, so I cut it in half last night and plan to do so for the next week and then cut it in half again. I guess I posted to see if anyone has had similar experiences. I am at work now and my anxiety is sky high from worrying about the way my head feels. I would appreciate any support and feedback. Thanks, Becky
