Hey! I also take Effexor and had all the same problems at first that you did. After a few months they went away.I have been on Effexor for about six months now and I feel normal. All the side effects are gone.It just takes time. You should let your doctor know and see what he has to say also. so good luck and stick with it.Effexor really helped me.

Hi!! The symptoms that you are experiencing are completely normal. I know they are scary, but most times your body should over come the symptoms once the drug is adjustment properly. I have been on effexor for almost 5 years now and I have been on high dosages such as 250Mg to 37.5 Mg. Your sleep patterns are definately going to be messed up, especially for the first while as this drug causes insomnia. Not to worry, it should pass. I also heard that effexor CAN cause heart palpatations...for this to be true, and that is what you are experiencing, I am not so certain. It is funny about the dreams, I have not had that symptom, but I am sure that this drug can effect people in many different ways. Such as for me, I have experienced: Insomnia, decreased sex drive, nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, bad taste from the drug, and the list continues. And also to the comment about wanting to get off the medication. I have tried to get off this medication for about a year and it is tough. The withdrawl effects if you can handle them should only last about a week, but they very, and are almost like a terrible flu and hangover all together. If you want to get off, do not do this alone, make sure you speak with your doctor. I hope that this information helps you, and don't worry, the side effects should ease up on you.

Hi Junior. I hope you are feeling better soon. I am currently taking effexor. I take one dosage of 75 milligrams a day. It has really helped me a lot. I too experience very vivid dreams and sometimes they are really strange. I have always been a dreamer but since the medicine they seem more vivid. I have gotten used to it though. I don't think the rapid heart beat is caused by the medicine but I am not a doctor and I would suggest you talk to your doctor if you are really concerned. I am hoping to go off the medicine soon but I am nervous about what will happen if I do. I really don't want to fall back into where I was last year at this time. I hope you feel better soon. :)

Hi Junior, Fellow members will be sharing their experiences of this drug soon, but please consider discussing these medication concerns with your family doctor or pharmacist. Casey ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

It's me again, I forgot to mention that from time to time I get this horrible taste in my mouth. My psychiatrist tells me it's a side effect of the meds. Junior

PLEASE ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH EFFEXOR PLEASE SHARE WITH ME YOUR EXPERIENCE with the meds. I've been taking Effexor for the past 4 months. I've beenon 150 (75mgx2/day. After suffering from severe panic attacks/anxiety and along with depression for about a month I began getting my life back in a 3 weeks. For the past 2 months I've been feeling like my old symptoms (tightness in the chest, labored breathing, tension headaches, anxious) are back. I have not had a full blown panic attack in 4 months, but I feel like it's right below the surface waiting to burst free. A side effect of the meds has been changes in my sleeping pattern. Iuse to sleep with the TV on, now I need under silence. I have extremely vivid dreams, that sometimes it's as if I did not even sleep. I also sleep very light now. Depsite not getting proper sleep, I'm rarely tired during the day. On weekends when I wake up around 7am, I go back to sleep around 10 and sleep hard for about 3 hours. This sleep is like my sleep before the meds. I don't really want to increase my meds. It was a big step for me to go on the meds in the place. I'm sometimes anxious that the meds is causing me heart/breathing problems. IS THIS the anxiety or could it be the meds. PLEASE ANYONE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH EFFEXOR PLEASE SHARE WITH ME YOUR EXPERIENCE. Thansk, Junior
