That is great advice Angel, it is something I need to keep in mind more often, esp. while driving. Angel said So as soon as i think a negative thought like that, i stop myself and say "This is just a negative thought ---jumpping to conclusions thought. I will be fine, just stop this thought, destroy this thought, and continue on with ur day." I am doing this a lot..

Hi Kizza. Its so amazing how similar we are. I experience the exact same thing as you. And i'm sure everyone else does here. I was going to actually make a new post about this topic...but luckely you already did! Ok, i constantly THINK. My mind is on 24/7...and thats what is driving my anxiety up. Its like i'm living in a different world or something where I dont' feel in touch with reality. I don't feel "normal" because of my mind. I alwayssssssssss think negative thoughts like having cancer, a heart problem, getting into a car accident, my car breaking down. U name it, i have thought about it. And it bothers me because i cannot seem to switch 'off' these thoughts. But now i'm trying to just STOP my anxious thoughts as much as i can. I am trying to be more aware of them (like this program taught me). So as soon as i think a negative thought like that, i stop myself and say "This is just a negative thought ---jumpping to conclusions thought. I will be fine, just stop this thought, destroy this thought, and continue on with ur day." I am doing this a lot...and it helps a bit. U have to try ur best to just stop them. Cause you know these things are irrational and a waste to worry about. So just pause, stop ur thoughts, and continue doign what u were doing. I hope i have helped Just wanted to let u know that ur definately NOT alone. This is something i struggle with everyday. But I am working on it. Hope u feel better!

Kizza, you are not alone in your worries. We live in B.C. and our families live on Vancouver Island. I used to worry everytime we boarded the ferry that the ramp would fall and I would have a plan for getting everyone out of the car if we fell in the water! I can look back and laugh now but a few years ago my life was consumed by thoughts like that. I too worried constantly about my heart and driving over bridges and many many other things. But through the help of a good Doctor, medication, and using CBT therapies like the one here, I am 1000% better. I have since discovered that many of my "normal" friends have the same irrational thoughts that we do but the difference is they can turn them off and we need to learn to turn them off. So in short you are not alone with these feelings.

Kizza, Congratulations of such great progress :) If the CBT is working for you and lessening your panic, then please continue to work through this. The Panic Program is not talk therapy. Its not about medications either. Its a treatment program thats all about getting you actively involved in your own improvement. It teaches you things you may not understand about panic and agoraphobia, your own panic, your own panic cycle, and as you learn and get involved, you begin the journey and the process of taking back control from a fear that at the moment is controlling you. Hope this helps, Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else worrys constantly about one thing and has trouble taking their mind off that one thing? Like if there is something that you feel anxious about (say you might be worried about your breathing or your heart), do you find that it is hard to stop thinking about it? I tend to worry about things that are probably quite irrational - like 'what if my car breaks down on the bridge' or 'what if I have a panic attack somewhere and make a fool of myself', or 'maybe I have a heart problem'. Its like my mind often makes my life seem so much worse than it really is. Its strange, I can go for days sometimes with one or two worries constantly going on in my mind and it can seem almost debilitating. It can be really hard to focus my mind on things that I should be focusing it on (like driving a car, or talking to someone). Anyway it seems to be getting alot better now, because Ive been using CBT and lots of exercise. Hope you are all coping well! Kieran :)
