This feelings are taking me nowhere!

Hey Nameless! I've had panic attacks for about 12 years now. I always believed it was something chemical that I couldn't fight and that I was doomed to just always be a panicky / anxious / depressed person. I went to a psychiatrist once who told me I was "trying to get attention from my husband." I went out to the parking lot and cried and swore I would never see a pschiatrist ever again. And I never have. That was about 10 years ago. Then I went on Paxil for about 7 years and decided it was time to try living without it. In fact, this month is my one year anniversary of that decision. Naturally, the panic / anxiety / depression all came rushing back with a vengeance. I've learned that is because I never dealt with the reason I was having these intense, life robbing emotions. I started to try to find some kind of help without meds and without psychiatrists - I trusted neither. (I no longer not trust psychiatrists though. I still haven't seen one, but now realize one bad apple doesn't make them all bad.) So.... I found this website and started to use the Panic Program (CBT) religiously. I've read in many, many sources that CBT is the best way to beat this. Although I still have moments of severe anxiety, I haven't had an actual panic attack in probably three months. Maybe a little less, but I think that's about accurate. When I do get the anxiety, I am now able to talk myself through it before it gets out of hand. I'm able to see that anxiety is a normal emotion and that everyone has it. The difference is that we dwell on it and it turns into a panic disorder. I'm realizing that it is very important to accept an anxious moment as an emotion and not a way of life. You are not crazy! You are not losing it! And most importantly, you are not alone! We are here for you. There isn't a single person on this website who doesn't know exactly what you are going through every day. Use the Panic Program and start getting your life back. It is a free 12 week program and it is so fabulous!! I don't know where I would be right now if I hadn't found it. Welcome to the website. I'm sorry you have to be here, but I'm glad you found us - I hope we can help you get through!

Nameless, Thanks for sharing your story with us today. You will find that there are tons of support and encouragement on our site. It is great to hear that you have started our Panic Program. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to post them here in the support group or e-mail or please contact Susanne or I at support@paniccenter.net. The Panic Center also has a sister site called the "The Depression Center". You can visit this site at www.depressioncenter.net. Here you will find our Depression Test. Again, this test is not a diagnostic tool and is not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. If you continue to need extra support our Support Department is always available 24/7. Thanks for visiting us and we hope to hear from you again soon. Take care, Melanie ___________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

HI mi name is Janeth after talking with my family Doctor yesterday I felt very dissapointed that He didn't care about the way I have been feeling. I asked him to give me an appointment with a psychologist and His answer was that my health plan didn't covered this type of services and that I wasn't Nad's or a crazy person to go to see a psichiatric. So I found this website. I have had panic attacks from a very long time ago, I know I need help specially when I find myself avoiding jobs or schooling or having social activities, It is turning so bad that I have avoided talking with people, Don't know where to go or what to do, I thought about using drugs or drinking that way I stop this feelings but I know this is not the solution. I have many things going on my life and I feel I can't take them anymore...
