GABA for anxiety?

19 years ago 0 5 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I've been working through a good workbook called "The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook" by Edmund J. Bourne, Ph.D. In it he recommends GABA as an alternative to Xanax. I began using it last week, 100mg once daily. It says you can take 100-400 mg twice per day, not to exceed 800 mg in a 24 hour period. So far I do not feel any adverse side effects. I do think it has a slight calming effect. I might try 2 times per day and see what happens. The advantage is that GABA is nonaddictive. That what scares me about Xanax. Xanax works very well for me in relieveing the panic but I am afraid I might need it to often. Kim
