I too have breathing issues sometimes i feel like i have been holding my breath and have to remind myself to breathe other times i breathe rapidly and hyperventilate which scares the heck out of me when i am highly anxious i have a fear of suffocating but i have found that practicing yoga which teaches breathing has helped me alot.Hope that helps. I think this is not only an anxiety thing, but also just normal body functions. Everyone gets winded going up the stairs - especially if you're carrying something. We just pay much more attention to it and that makes it feel tons worse than it does for those who don't pay so much attention to bodily changes. I have a hard time with stairs. I exercise every day and feel stronger physically than I have in years, but I still can't go up the stairs without getting winded. Do you ever get short of breath for no reason? I notice sometimes that I feel short of breath even if I'm just sitting at my desk at work. Especially if I'm menstrual. I really hate that!! My mom had some pretty serious heart problems a couple years ago and she told me that her cardiologist told her that getting winded is normal. He told her the times you need to have it looked into is when you are gasping for air. Not just winded or short of breath, but feeling like you just cannot breath - like you just sprinted a mile. My mom could only walk a small distance and had to stop because she was so out of breath. That's how she knew there was something wrong. Does that help or make it worse? I'm sorry if it makes you more worried! If you are concerned, I would suggest going to the doctor and putting your mind at ease.

hi angel, i feel exactly the same way if i walk up a hill i feel my breathing becomes very laboured and this brings on a panic attack i have had tests done on my heart and a xray for my heart and lungs and everything came back good so i guess its just one of many anxiety symptoms i think we hyperventale and this is what causes the panic hope this answers your question, thats my experiance of this take care lynn

Hi everyone. I just need your help. I'm wondering if you guys experience the same thing too. When i go up a flight of stairs, or if i'm rushing to class, or i'm running....i cannot catch my breath. Now, I dont' believe i have asmtha cause i got this tested like a year ago and i'm fine. For example, the other day at school, i went up a lot of stairs and i was carrying my heavy schoool bag on my shoulders. When i reached the top, i couldn't catch my breath. I started to really think negative thoughts like: im' gonna stop breathing, they are gonna send me to the hospital, i have asthma, i have a respitory problem etc. So, in turn, i had a panic attack right there. Now, does this happen to anybody? Do you think this is just my anxiety and those negative thoughts? Because i really forget how I used to deal with this before my anxiety. I forget what a person without anxiety does when they go up a flight of stairs. also, when i wake up and after i eat, i experience heavy breathing. Does anyone experience breathing problems everyday?
