Jakelad, Noticed that too. Just yesterday, I was flipping between a couple of my favorite country stations. Several of the songs referenced drinkin' Then, I started to justify why I 'deserved' a drink. After some internal self talk, turned off the country and bought an icee. LOL Billy

Alcohol certainly is glorified in our media and culture. Many people believe alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs out there yet many others believe binge drinking is an appropriate weekend past time.

So, what do you think needs to be done to change this?

The glorification has its seeds in propaganda from the industry. The revenues realized are huge so the consequence of human suffering is an accepted casualty. The only action the government will take would be to encourage lower alcohol content so that people would need to drink more to derive the much sought after buzz ultimately incurring more revenue. As long as Money is god, nothing will change other than more ways to disguise the carnage. Ever take a good look at the fast food industry and its drivers? We are turning into a fat, addicted Nation exposed to an ever increasing plethora of nutritionally bankrupt products.

Knowledge is our defense and the refusal to succumb to the lure.

I listen to country music. Seems every song is glorifying booze.

Alcohol is such a big part of American life today that we rarely stop to consider our pattern of drinking. We drink wine with dinner, or have a few drinks after work, or even a few beers while watching a ball game, but when a pattern of drinking begins to emerge, it can become a problem.

Drug use in America is also more commonplace than it once was. In today's teenage population over 90 percent have used alcohol. Over 50 percent have used marijuana, 17 percent admit to trying cocaine and 12.5 percent have used some form of hallucinogen.

I think our government need to take an action for this kind of situation
