Zoey,
I hope you are having a good night.  I realized I never responded to you about the "wine belly" issue.  Unfortunately it is not possible to spot reduce but some scientific information may help.
In your natural state your body burns whatever you consume, some faster than others, some consume more than the body can burn and stores it as fat.  As soon as you take a drink of alcohol your body immediately stops any burning of fat it was doing and focuses on the toxic substance (alcohol) that was just put into the body.  In addition the alcohol reduces the amount of testosterone (a fat burner) and increases the amount of cortisol (a fat storer).  And this effect continues until all the alcohol is metabolized within the body and it is commutative.   So for us that drink/drank on a daily basis, we have barely allowed our body to start burning fat again before we take our next drink.
And it gets worse!  Alcohol causes the rise in cortisol(the fat storer) and guess where it likes to store it?  THE BELLY. The body tries to get rid of it so fast (it is toxic) that it stores it in the place that is closest to the organs that are doing the work.
So, in the end that is where it comes from.  Exercising the area will only strengthen the muscles below, the only way to reduce the fat is to increase the fat all over.  I do have exercises that can escalate fat burn and my friends have told me I need to publish a cookbook of "good" healthy food.  I will be happy to share.
Hope this makes sense.  Have a great weekend!

I echo that sentiment Jewel. I hope everyone has a safe weekend.

I hope you got my humour Jewel. I had a tendency to get somewhat "possessed" when I drank spirits.

It's easy to get caught up in the party and social aspect of the summer and it's a big trigger for all of us. It can be quite distracting when tour goal is to not drink.

How are you coping with all of this Jewel?

All the best,

Dave

Spirits......as in vodka, rum, rye.....you know, the one's when you drink way too many of them it looks like you're possessed by "evil spirits"... :)

"A spirit is distilled alcohol. Spirits distillation is the process of heating a fermented liquid, evaporating off the alcohol as vapor, and then condensing it back into liquid form.

Spirits are classified by the fermented material that they are distilled from. For example, whiskies, vodka, gin and most types of Schnapps are made by distilling a kind of beer made from grain. Brandy is made from fermented grape juice, and Fruit Brandy is made from other fruits."

Crazy Question!!!! When I work in my online diary on here, I click on 0's for how many beers, spirits, etc I've consumed on that day. Here comes the DUH part. What is a spirit? I should know since I been drinking so long, but I dont.

Drew,

You are so right. I felt so free leaving her office today. Felt like she understood and was on my team.

Jewel,
I had a hard time being honest with my doc. But when I told the truth it allowed me to feel free. Judge me. It's wrong and you are my doctor. If you have a good one they have seen it before and the truth allows them to better your health. I haven't spoken with you yet but your journey is an inspiring one
Thanks
