Effexor - bad taste in mouth?

Hi kraft_dinner, When I first went on Efexor I noticed, but I have been on Efexor now for a while and I don't notice it anymore. Ruby.....

That's interesting about the sleep problem. I was on Paxil for about 4 weeks and once my dosage was increased from 10mg to 20mg, I pretty much couldn't sleep at all for 2 weeks. Then I went to the doctor and he switched me from Paxil to Effexor. On about Friday night, I started sleeping good again, "out of the blue". I took 20mg Paxil on Friday, 20mg Paxil on Saturday, nothing on Sunday, nothing on Monday, and then on Tuesday I took my first 37.5 Effexor, and again 37.5 Effexor again today. So I'm really just getting onto Effexor, but I will let you know how things go. The last 2 nights I've been SO tired and slept more than 8 hours which is good for me, but I've also been REALLY tired during the day, waking up feeling not refreshed (which is another kind of insomnia) and I've felt more depressed. I don't know if it's because of all the medication switching or not. But I will post again once the Effexor starts kicking in more and let you know! KD

Hi, I too have been on effexor for about 2 months now, after being on mirtazapine for a year. I haven't noticed a bad taste, but my sleep has gone to pot. I can easily go 48 hours without sleeping. Do you have the same problem ?

Thanks Ruby, that's interesting that we both have it since it's listed as an uncommon side effect. Does it bother you or have you gotten used to it? KD

Hi kraft_dinner, I am also taking Efexor and have been taking them for a while now. I did notice a taste in my mouth, I wouldn't worry to much about it. I didn't. But if you are worried just check with your doctor just to make sure. I hope this helps, Ruby.....

Hey, I just started taking Effexor today and I've had a gross taste in my mouth all day. Has anyone else taking Effexor ever had that? Today I've been super depressed too (instead of anxious)...sigh... KD :(
