For my health
To save up for a nice massage

great thread to resurrect Pinky... I find it nearly impossible to remember WHY I want to quit when the craving starts.  I hope more current members will post their reasons... soon... so maybe I will remember why I want to quit

1.  To feel better about myself
2.  To be there for my family all the time.
3.  Getting too time consuming to lie and hide things...I am tired of being a prsioner to this!
4.  To enjoy every moment I have with my kids.
5.  To be in control of my life.
6.  Save money for something nice.

There are many more.

Excellent reasons Wendy! Nicole, It sounds like this has been a tough year for you. Although you can't change the past, you can look forward to the future. What kind of memories would you like to make for yourself this year? Who's next? Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

I just simply didn't want to miss another day of my life. For the last year everything is blurry i have a real hard time remembering it or at least the way it made me really feel. This last year should have been one of the happiest of my life. It's like each drink would take away alittle more of my life.

My #1 reason for quitting is because I hate the control that alcohol had on my life. As I spend more time sober, I am discovering more and more reasons why I want to stay with quitting!! Wendy

Jack every day that you cut back or quit- whatever your goal - is a victory :> Congrats!!! My reasons for quitting: - I started to think less of myself - I did and said things when I was drunk that I will always regret. - I was tired of feeling out of control - For my family - I just looked around and saw that alcolhol had become more important than many other things in my life. a few more to add to the list

Hi Jack, Please don't consider yourself a hypocrit. The purpose of this site is to seek help and advice on taking control over drinking problems. (please correct me if I am wrong). Taking control may just mean cutting down, little by little, not necessarily quitting completely and right away. So Jack, your victories are helpful and inspiring for us all. And you should feel proud of yourself for taking steps toward a better life for you and your family. Keep up the good fight! Wendy
