Congrats on your progress thus far! You have come to a great place! Have you found any of the information here helpful? I find the education page on "What you can expect if I change? is a great help!
Congratulations on day two! You have come to the right place.
I reiterate what Jason says to work on the getting started session to prepare. Also, go to the Education page and have a read of "What Can I Expect If I Change". This will give you a better understanding of what to expect. Let us know about any helpful information you find.
Hello, I've just joined this support group. I need and want to stop drinking completely. I've tried many times over the last 10 years but have never really put much effort into it. I'm going to log on frequently and just read the posts and use the tools. I can't promise instant sobriety, but I can promise effort and commitment.
I am the same way. I quit drinking for 2 years once and then stupidly thought I could control my drinking. I was OK for 6 to 8 months but in the end I kept drinking more and more. I have quit drinking a few more times since then and then I get the same stupid thinking...off and on the wagon again and again.
I was happy to be part of the CAMH trial group and I have a very strong feeling this may be the time that really works. I can't get too excited but so fare, so good. 3 sober days and a real positive outlook.
I wish you all the best. Keep at it no matter what happens, don't feel bad just try again and again until it works.
That is part of alcoholism. Once an alcoholic puts a drink in the body, then the physical craving kicks in and we end up drunk. But that is not the only problem. The next day we wake up and start all over again. There is no defense against the first drink. Thats why we need spiritual help.
