New Year Resolutions

Leanne,

I had to go cold turkey, it was the only way. I'm not saying I will never drink again. It was safer for me to cut it out completely and possibly one day re-integrate it rather than cut down. I just didn't want to risk it. Everyone is different though, see what works for you and go for it! We are all here for you if you need us!

Yes, i am an alcoholic and had to put down the drink. But always feared that i will pick back, but not anymore. You can do yourself a big favor by visiting Alcoholics Anonymous web-site and read the book called Alcoholics anonymous on-line and see if you can identify yourself with all the stories in the book.

"If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit entirely, or if when drinking, you have little control over the amount you take, you are probably alcoholic. If that be the case, you may be suffering from an illness which only a spiritual experience will conquer."

And appendix II of the book talks about what they mean by spiritual experience/awakening.

Thanks for sharing your resolutions with us Leanne!

How do you plan on cutting down drinking? What have you been doing so far that has worked or hasn't worked for you? Also eating better and taking care of your body will be a great step towards a healthier you. What do you plan to do in order to meet new friends who are not into drinking?

Members, please share your resolutions with us!

Well, I'm just on my way out to go to a friend's house party...there will be drinking, but I have already made up my mind that I will not have more than one drink tonight. I brought my favourite cup along and that is that. I told my friends who are driving there this goal, so that they will hold me to it.

2010, just a few hours away, a new year, new start. Here are my hopes for this year:

1) To cut down on drinking even more so that by this time this year, I won't feel so afraid about drinking taking control of my life

2) To start eating healthier and taking care of my body

3)  To meet new friends who do not drink

What are yours? Happy 2010 to all!
