I take mine at night between 9-10 cuz it makes me sleepy .I think you will be glad you tried it.....it helps.Chris

Hi there ive been on Zoloft for about 8 weeks now and i almost feel half human again :p it took a couple of weeks to kick in but i perservered and im glad i did it has helped reduce the anxiety and in return produces less panic i am still anxious but not nearly as bad as what i was Have gone from 3 to 4 panics a day to roughly 2 a week but i am also agoraphobic so i dont go far outside and thats what im working on now.I had lots of side effects but nothing major just things like feeling nauseas, headaches, dry mouth, grinding my teeth and yawning heaps but they gradually dissapeared after about a week and if you read the side effects for zoloft half the stuff is like what we go through now anyway so i figured i had nothing to lose and it worked. Goodluck. Lou..

Hi Rock, Are you seeing a regular medical doctor for your treatment? If so, medical doctors only really know enough about anxiety and depression to diagnose you, not treat you. I would advise you find a specialist such as a therapist and/or a psychiatrist who knows what they are doing and are willing to listen to your needs. They are more educated in that area to prescribe you proper medication and even provide you with therapy while you are on the medicine. If you are already seeing a thereapist and/or psychiatrist then you need to find a new one.

Hi there! I am also currently taking Zoloft and I started last January. My doctor said it is a therapeutic medicine, meaning you will have to take it regularly for a certain period before it take its effect. It worked for me, but I understand your concern about the sudden onsset of panic attack. Before I had Zoloft, I have been using Rivotril since 1997. Rock, my panic attacks are also nasty ones! And the need to have something to calm me down is necessary. I was panic attack-free for about 2 to 3 years. I can even leave my house without my Rivotril on my pocket. Panic went back just December of last year because of some major setbacks. Rock, why dont you try taking the Zoloft? But ask your doctor to spare another medication which you can take in the event panic sets in. Also, one side effect I encountered with Zoloft was that I had loose bowel movement but it went back to normal after some time. Other than that, I didnt have or feel any side effects. Try to visit Pfizer's website to know how Zoloft works. It was very educational for me as I was also hesitant to take it before. Regards, Blue Water

Hello all, Said it before but basically after 2 years with very few, panic attacks back for last 4 months, 1 a day now, horrible stuff. Although I think it is just stress as I get married next weeekend. Anyway I usually get ativan from my doctor. I start to feel an attack? I take one and I (usually) feel fine as it calms me right down. But every time I go to the doctors, the resident that I get always trys to put me on a pill-a-day. I've been on Paxil before and didn't like it. Last time I went, doctor gave me a really hard time, and even wrote out a prescription for Zoloft, and said "no more ativan". I only have 14 ativan left now and am worried. I don't know if I should go on Zoloft because hell...my doctor doesn't know me! He hasn't talked to me much about this....he's just doing the standard "you have ____, so take _____ and you will feel better". My feeling is that panic attacks are not like a broken arm or strep throat....there's not one standard way to treat them. What do you all think? Should I try the zoloft? The attacks are getting horrible, but I also see a panic attack counsellor in a month who is a specialist so I half want to wait till that.
