U know, a lot of people, such as myself, keep asking the age old question...why me? Panic is a deep fear of something...a fight or flight reaction. I learned the worst thing u can do it try to control it...if u just accept it for what it is, it can't kill u...just go through the motions of it. it's very uncomfortable but if u let it do it's thing, which it wont be easy, but in time it will heal itself....Another things I have learned...don't face it until u r ready...and when u are, face your fear...if u are scared of being in crouds of people...slowly put urself in that situation until u begin to feel comfortable. I have a fear of eating. I'm scared everything will make me sick or make my stomach hurt. Well I took my own advice and when I was ready, I started eating what I wanted when I wanted even if i was scared. Slowly I have calmed down because it's shown me that it wont hurt me. Don't ever let anyone convince u that this is a life long problem. It can be healed, doesn't mean it'll be easy though.

"snazzapples", Just want to say that take your time finding someone you feel you can talk to. Finding the right person will really make all the difference. Don't be afraid to feel them out on the phone first to see if it's someone you can talk to. Also there are psychologists who specialize in anxiety. Seeking professional help was one of the best steps I have taken, take one step at a time and you won't regret it. Best wishes!

add me to the list!!...ever since i graduated 3years back i havent been able to hold down a steady job and keep running away from them because of my anxieties..i even used to lie to my family and wake up in the mornings and 'pretend' to go to work as i was beginning to run out of excuses for my recurring unemployment! currently i'm on my longest run yet and have been out of work for a year. Im due to start a teaching course in september but am trying to work my way out of that one too because of my over-worrying! Feel a bit like im my own enemy at the moment...i havnt taken any steps to see a therapist yet but that is my mission this week...to make that call to the doctors..it's a tiny step but a step nonetheless...i hope you can make some steps too...it'l perhaps inspire me even! good luck to you ;)

I also went from not working at all to working at home. I now work outside of the home. One of the best advice I heard is "Baby steps". Also alot of patience with yourself. It is so easy to get frustrated when you don't feel you are progressing fast enough. This only leads to more anxiety. I am still taking baby steps every day.

Ever since I had panic disorder I've had trouble holding down jobs. When I went into a massive depression about three - four years ago I stopped working, it took me ages to get back on my feet but I never managed to be able to go back to work. Just recently I've been able to work from home which really works for me but I dont' make the money I would if I went out to work.

Worrying, At one point in my life I was out of work because of my panic disorder. I now work. Heart racing is one of my symptoms also. Mine would go up to 180. Are you under a docotors care?

Is anyone here not working because of their anxiety? i have been off work for 7 months now, I am just so frieghtened that im going to give myself an illness or a heart attack if idont relax. I keep having waves of anxiety type feelings, i dont know what they are but there overwelming!! Its a bit like very strong feeling off exitement, or like when a car pulls out on you or something its so much though i cant get on. I also get the racing heart- my heart does about 90-100bpm everytime i take it, whats everyone elses? Does anyone get those feelings i was explaining? and are you still working? xx
