Hi Mikit,
It's good to hear that you are still smoke free, after almost 4 weeks.  You have a great quit going. Be strong when you go back home, and tell your friends and family that you are doing this for you, and you really want to quit smoking. Tell them that you want to live a long and healthy life.
As for a mantra for you, I found a few.
  • My Life Matters.
  • Look at me, finally free!
"My lungs need air not smoke.
My muscles need stretching not cigarettes.
My stomach needs nourishment not nicotine.
My brain needs stimulation not a stimulant."

"I will Never Smoke Again. Never, never, never. I will never smoke again. I will never, ever, ever, ever smoke again for the rest of my life. NEVER. I will never smoke again. I will never have another cigarette for the rest of my life. I will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever smoke again. Never. I will never smoke again. Never, never, never, never, never again. I will never smoke again. I will never smoke another cigarette for as long as I live. NEVER. I will never smoke again. NEVER."

Then there's always my favorite, Not One Puff Ever.

Hope they help you if needed, and good luck on your trip to your home country. Remember you are a NON smoker now!

hello again,

Well I am new in this forum but it has been a great support in the journey. I am now on my 26th day, so far so good. I am just a bit afraid as I am going back for Easter holiday back to my home country and it will be hard back there not to smoke.

But I will do my best each day not to smoke.

Please share some nice mantras if you can that make that nicotine monster disappear when it sticks it head up...

Thanks a lot

Welcome!

Congrats on getting started. Slips are very common. The key is to learn from them and keep trying. You can decide how you want to count - each person can chose what works for them.

I am glad you are finding the community useful. I look forward to reading more form you.

Hi Mikit,
Welcome to the Stop Smoking Center. Congratulations on your quit. Any day without smoking is worth celebrating.  Be sure and reward yourself for your efforts.
Like Office boy said, it does not really matter when you count your start day from since you had a slip, the important thing is that you have not given up and are still trying. Set your start date to whatever you think it should be, it's your decision. You're already  past the first three days and you should have all of the nicotine out of your system by now. Now it's all mental, and you need to be careful that you don't slip up again. Make sure you keep drinking plenty of fluids, preferably not alcohol since it will hinder your judgment, and try and keep yourself busy.
How long have you smoked? Have you tried to quit before?
Stay strong keep your guard up and remember Not One Puff Ever!

Today is day 7 smoke free for me, I just found this site this morning and could use some help and encouragement. I have been smoking for 35 years started at age 16 and I'm now 52. my husband quit 2 years ago due to health reasons and I was not able to do it at that time, but due to my own health concerns and many of other reasons it is time for me to quit. I started taking Chantix two weeks ago did not set a quit date and 7 days ago smoked a cig that tasted like burnt rubber and said to myself I'm done that was my last cig. I know that I have a lone way to go but as far as concerned I will never smoke again.
