New & Glad to be Smokefree

Hi Aim - I am new to this forum too. Glad to hear you are having such success with Zyban. I used a different method to quit, but have been smoke free for almost a year now. I smoked for 35 years, 1.5 packs a day or more. I'm curious are you having any side effects, using the zyban? Also, how is it doing in diminishing the cravings? I still have a craving every now and again, but it goes away pretty quick.

Hi Aim (Catnip). Congratulations on quiting. As you know once you have got passed the 1st 72 hours then the game is over. Enjoy your quit and rejoice that you are a non smoker. Quitting is not easy but nor is it difficult. Draw strength from every second which goes by. If you remember when you smoked you would feel uneasy everytime your packet was half empty should something happen and you might run out..... Now remember what I said earlier, you have already won the game. Any smoker who used to live like that in fear, who then manages to hold out for 3 days...... Well he/she need never smoke again in my humble opinion. Just remember never light up again. NOPE Enjoy your new life. It's way better. John

Hi, Ashley!

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I have made it past the first three days and I am loving it.

You asked what I learned from last attempts?  I learned that if you truly believe in yourself that you can quit, then you can relax some and actually enjoy quitting.  This is a wonderful quit attempt.  I hope it is the last.

Thanks again for replying to my post.

Best,
Aim

Welcome Catnip!

Congrats on getting started. Cravings will be intense for the first few weeks but it will pass. Have you had a chance to check out the program yet? The more information you can gian now the stronger you will be in your quit either.

I like that I heard you have tried to quit before. This means you have gained some experience and wisdom in the quit process. It is very common for people to try to quit multiple times before having their last successful quit. Quitting smoking can be a long learning process and each quit attempt increases your knowledge. What have you learned from your last quit attempts?

Smoked for 33 years.  Tried everything to quit…This time I am using Zyban, gum and food and feel really good.  I just did some relaxation exercises and it helped.
So far all my cravings on this first day have been threes on a scale from one to ten.  I believe Zyban works for me.  Anyway, nice to meet all of you.
