I still have nearly a full pack of cigarettes near me. haha. I keep thinking that I can have just one....

I know, I know the feeling. And slips can happen but, personally, I don't think it lessens your resolve or desire to quit and do what you know is right for your body and mind, never mind bank account. Do you still have cigarettes available that you may slip? I made sure I broke and threw any I had out. Makes a difference if I have to go buy a whole pack...smoke one or two...and then throw the rest out! $ wise it's silly...but also then I have to start over. I am trying to look at it that I'm glad not to have that worry at all anymore :). Stay strong Paradox, you can do it!

Ahh, yup, I've tried those pills. Nasty things :P

I just hope that I don't get too desperate and reach for one!! :(

I find it inspiring that there are so many here who have happily quit for so long now and they once started where we are today. And also that, you're right, there are still people quitting every day. It's the right and good choice. I haven't used any nicotine products myself in any time I've tried to quit, but did try Zyban once...it wasn't for me at all. it's made me weary to try others like Champix though I have friends who swear by it since it worked wonderfully for them. Again, whatever works! For me, cold turkey with a dose of fear to continue and happy to be free is doing it for going on a week now. I am getting more used to it each day and you will too. I hope today so far is working out.

Hey there :)

I've tried every single method under the sun to quit and not succeeded. Wish I could say that NRT worked for me, but I was just too weak! This time I'm trying cold turkey because that is the only way that I'll ensure that I'll never smoke a cigarette again. I cannot wait till the nicotine has left my body and I can start feeling better about myself. Glad to hear that there are people quitting everyday and I thank you for your advice!

Also, I'll add you as a friend :)

Good for you Paradox!  I have done cold turkey too and it's going well. Have you tried and other ways in the past attempts?  Or always cold turkey? For me, I like knowing then nicotine has left my body starting the last cigarette I smoked. I can almost visualize it which seems to help me. I also believe whatever it takes to get the job done is good and it's an individual experience.

Day one and two were a bit topsy-turvy for me but not too terrible when I reminded myself that I was glad to quit and not have to smoke anymore. Sounds funny but it's true. Keeping positives about it is key for me right now since I'm only a few days ahead of you. We can do this!
