My first day without nicotine!

Right on! I just commented on a discussion in the Forum for New Users and General Discussion section of the Forum...it's called Low and No Cost Rewards (or something like that) -- there are a lot of ideas in that one that may help you. I struggle with it myself so it was good to see what others wrote. I also went out and bought a bunch of different gum, some individually wrapped lifesavers, some tic tacs to help me through the day if I needed. It's going ok with that. I like gum, but don't like chewing it a lot.

I'll think of something to do :) Ah, yes, I hear that juices are very good for you!

Pick something to congratulate yourself on day one done! I look forward to the day that I don't know exactly how many hours or days even...it gets me overwhelmed if I think that far ahead though and discouraged because I haven't been successful before. So. We're going to focus on the here and now and keep stringing hours and days together as they pass and the nicotine leaves you. Drink lots of water and juice to help that on through your system and remember, your body is complete and capable without nicotine in it! :)

I don't actually. Maybe watch a movie later or something :) I think the first day is the hardest because I haven't got the hours behind me yet. Plus the nicotine is still in my system. :(
Alas, we battle on! Can't wait till I actually forget how many days have passed since I've had a cigarette :)

I hope I feel as good as you in a few days time!!

That's great! Do you have something planned to pat yourself on the back for sticking to it for Day One? I am finding it good so far. It is getting more used to it with each day and I feel better and better each day. Plus I'm sticking with it and too it and it's such a great feeling of accomplishment. It's nice to add the hours up in my head so far since my last smoke :)

Oh Geez! I get your logic, yes. And that is a challenge with someone with you still smoking. All those rooms/situations and you still be assaulted by it...I think that it may prolong a craving a bit longer. Are you able to go for a short walk? Drink a big glass of water? Keep a pen or pencil in your hand to keep it busy? You are definitely not insane and it takes a whole lot of courage to get to where you are. One leads to the rest of the pack +++ so if you don't have that one, you won't have the rest... post lots like you're doing, work through your feelings. I even started a bit of a journal with mine too, the past few days. It's helping a bit.

The thing is, I'm not ready to say goodbye. I don't think I'd ever be able to. That's why I thought walking away without thinking "this is my last cigarette", would be the best decision for me. However, the fact that there is a family member who smokes in the same household/and does so in the kitchen, makes this even harder!

The kitchen has now become a "smoking" cue along with the garden, utility room, in my car, living room and 50 other places. My brain just can't seem to switch off or move away. Been this way for 15 minutes. A little long for a craving, no?

Perhaps I'm going insane.....

Think about your resolve, maybe. Are you ready to say goodbye? If you are, break them up, throw them out, give them away, but do not smoke them. Look for the post about "just one". I commented on it the other day because I had been thinking about this a bit...and there does seem to be some fantasizing we all do about 'just one' but I know for me, there is no such thing. I'm all or nothing lol. I found a lot of help with reading Allen Carr's Easyway (I think I'm allowed to mention this lol) to help me try and keep this straight in my mind. Also, knowing through the support here that "just one" is not unique to me and what others thoughts are about it help. :)
