pregnant and panicked!!

19 years ago 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi. i just found out i'm pregnant. i've had panic attacks since i was four. any big change in my life is always really tough. before, i could just take xanax until it was over. now that i'm pregnant, i'm scared to hurt my baby. my doc said it was okay to take xanax as i needed it. i'm on a really low doze. he also said my attacks are so severe they could trigger a miscarriage. does this ever get better? how did you deal with attacks while you were pregnant? i just feel so alone. no one understands what i'm going through...

Debbi, What a small world. I live in Sagamore Hills. Yes I know where North Olmsted is. I am from Chicago, but my husband is from Painesville. That is so funny. Not only am I having panic and anxiety, I am also very sick. I was sick with #1 thru my whole pregnancy and so far and I am just as sick. I am very depressed about it. I can't eat, drink, I am nauseaus(spelling) ALL DAY, I throw up 2-5 times. I just want it all to stop. If it lasts the whole time again I don't know what I will do. Iam freaked out about all the meds I am on, zofran, for sickness, zoloft and the occassional klonopin, which I am afraid to tell my dr. about. Anyways I guess I have to stay positive. Hope to hear from you soon. Debbie

Dear debbie, Hi! The other Debbi again. Another coincidence, not only do we take the same meds but I am from Cleveland also!! Awesome! I lived in "North Olmsted" for over 20 years, have you heard of that town? were you East or West? I also have family in Lyndhurst, most of my family still reside in North Olmsted, my Husband is from Lorain, I met him down hear, and not in Ohio. Please let me know where in Cleveland where you are from and how you are doing, you are on such a low-dose medicine, I am sure its no harm to the baby, Please write me back and let me know where in Cleveland you are from and how you are feeling and doing. God bless, Debbi.

thank you for all your support. I live in cleveland and it is hot. In the upper 80's today. I feel so guilty b/c I have had to take some small doses of klonopin. My dr. says the dose i have taken will hav no effect on the baby, but I can't help but worry. my anxiety and panic were almost gone when I was pg with my first baby and now this. I am so glad to have found this site and talk to people who understand. Thanks Debbie

Debbie, I don't know if this helps any but I'm going through the very same thing as you. I'm at 32 weeks right now and my symptoms have been at their worst lately. I think the worst part of it is we're going through it knowing we can't take a xanax, klonopin, or an ativan if we needed to. There are doctors who specialize in pregnant women and medication so I'd ask your OB what your options are. I am more than willing to go through this with you if you need extra support from someone experiencing the same thing. Take it easy on yourself and remember you're not alone in this.

Hi Debbie, Please don't feel like you are going crazy...your symptoms are in full force because your hormones are all out of wack and so is everything else in your body. This is totally normal I know we all hate to hear this but try and relax somewhat. You are right you need to go to a doctor who has the knowledge and will take the time to put you on the right meds (because there are very helpful and safe medications for when you are pregnant) I know this because I am trying to get pregnant and made sure there were medications I could go on while I was pregnant if need be. These feelings you are having are enhanced right now because you are now worrying not only about yourself but now for a baby too, you need to write down your what ifs??? and write a logical answer because the probability of your what ifs I am sure are slim to none. Remember Debbie your panic attacks will not harm your baby...or you...and you are definitley not crazy! You need to keep your mind on something so you don't constantly think (well that really helps me) When you start to feel anxious come and write me on this forum...I will write you back so you have something read and you will be able to vent :) Kerri PS How old are you Debbie?

Hello, I feel like I am going crazy. I have stuggled with panic disorder off and on for over 12 yrs. and since being pg. my symptoms are at full force. I have constant thoughts of what if this and what if that. Sometimes my first thought after I wake up is "what if I have a panic attack" it is always on my mind. I feel like I can't breathe all of the time. I was doing so well before pregnancy and now... I am on zoloft and have been taking occassional klonopin, which I am scared out of my mind from taking because my dr. said I can't take it while pg, but I can't live like this. I need to find a psychiatrist who deals with meds in pregnancy. I am so scared. Why is this happening. I have had so many panic attacks, been through therapy, you name it so why can't i handle these feelings. I know what they are. Why can't I let them go. Sorry to vent but I am so sick of feeling anxious and so scared to be taking meds. I just can't stop these thoughts. Thanks Debbie
