Wow, Carols. Awesome! I also experienced a great awakening of the senses as part of my quit. Much of that awakening continues even now, over a year later. It is a really nice side effect of quitting.

Carols , you've made it through the first 3 days and the nicotine should be out of your system by now. As long as you adhere to N.O.P.E. you'll never have to go through that again. How does that sound to you ? The philosophy I have is that I just don't smoke today no matter what happens. Yesterdays gone and tomorrow can take care of itself. The days will soon add up. Excellent for you. breather

Day 4, it's a Whole New World and I'm Loving it!!!  For years I have gone for walks at this park not far from me.  It is nature trails, not a cultivated park.  There are large fields of wildflowers some that tower over my head.  I would walk by and say 'how pretty'.  Today for the First Time I Smelled them!!!  It is Amazing the world I will discover after 38 years of dulling my senses, it makes me feel childlike with wonder (at age 62) :)

Yes the withdrawal S*cks but it will pass, I choose to focus on the things I am gaining it helps to make it through the tough periods!

Keep going Ironman.............one day at a time and you will soon reach over four years like I did.......just don't make the mistake of thinking that you can just have one (like I did). We will always be smokers who choose not to smoke and both you and I do not want to have to repeat the first week ever again. It now gets much easier and that is where the danger lies. We forget the massive achievement of taking control again and get complacent.

Well done and see it through for the rest of your life. Mad Englishman
