Day 5, my friend. The first days are the hardest ones, and you just knocked off 5 Big Ones. I hope you're feeling proud of yourself.

Thanks for making me laugh...I really needed that right now.  And, yes it could b just knee pain lol

Lolly, yes it is kind of insane.  Reading Allen Carr's book.  Smokers are schizophrenic.  I can totally relate...

Hi Hopeful,

I haven't heard other members talking about knee pain while quitting either. If it is consistent or gets worse make an appointment with your doctor.

In the mean time the members have given you some great suggestions.

Hello Shannon,

Ditto to Working On It, mine do too!

There can be lots of explanations for various physical symptoms we get when we quit.  Maybe they are related to our quit, maybe not, but I do understand your interest to see if anyone else had the same problems.  Maybe the muscles around your knees are just a bit more tense.

The thing is, every quit is individual and the symptoms will be too.  One day, in the first 3 weeks of my quit, my gums began to bleed...just like Dracula!!!
What a shock!  Of course, all the blood vessels in my body were recovering from the previous lack of oxygen, so opened up, but, at the time, I had such a fright.  That was just one of the physical symptoms I had.

What these things showed was just how much damage I had done to my body while I smoked for 40 years!  It just reinforced my determination to stay strong with my quit!  The damage was a slow process, and the healing is also slow, though I'm happy to say it did not take quite so long to heal!
I imagined my body giving a huge sigh of relief.

We are all intelligent, and at the back of our minds we knew all those things, yet we continued to smoke.  Now, thinking back, how insane is that?!  It just showed the strength of Nicotine Addiction.

You are doing well in Hell Week.     Stay strong, and whatever it takes, just don't smoke!

Love Lolly.

It could be that your knees just hurt. Mine do, too, sometimes.

Hi Jim -

I wish the pain was from too much exercise.  Truth is, I have not done much.  Part of me is afraid to exercise cuz I used to reward myself with a cigarette and I am not ready to take that on.  Tomorrow, if the knee pain subsides, I am going to start out the day with a walk...stop feeling sorry for myself and face the demon more and more everyday.

And, keep patting yourself on that back

Hey Shannon!

I don't think that I have read anything about knees hurting when anyone quit.  My shoulder sort of started aching... I think it was from patting myself on the back so much!

Are you walking more?  Playing with the dogs more?  Sleepwalking to the convenience store in the middle of the night?  I'd like to suggest a nice long bubble bath or something and then see how you feel!    That may be just what the doctor ordered!

If you don't get many more responses, try searching "sore knees"  or "sore joints" or something like that on the search button.  Now, take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning!  (That's an old line, if you didn't know... I'm not a physician and I'm not really giving you medical advice!  )

My knees are kinda hurting, almost like a faint but consistent discomfort.  Hopefully, it is just part of the withdrawal.  But, I am on gum so I shouldn't be feeling these withdrawal symptoms so much.  Or, it may be something that the smoking covered up.  I guess I have to just monitor it...Any thoughts?  Similar experiences?
