There is a book written by Ann Landers, not sure of the title, that I think you should read. 20 years ago, when I was pregnant, I got pnemonia, staff, and something else (can't remember) for 5 months. After I had my baby, I had severe stress symproms. I found this book in the library, and it said if you have physical or emotional stress, your nerves become "senstized" and you begin to get stress symptoms. The symptoms freak you out, so your body releases adrenaline, and you get another nervous symptom. If this cycle progresses, it is termed a "nervous breakdown," bcuz your nerves are just so sensitized. The only way to stop the cycle is to not freak out about nervous symptoms and just let them come. Mine got so bad that I was bedridden for 6 mo.'s( with 3 small children) and constant chest and left arm pain. That's when I let go, and said, "ok God, if you want to take me, take me. " I think that probably saved my life, becuz if I had kept worrying, I probably would have died. My best advise to you is the same as your Mothers', you have been sick, that is stressful, let your body and mind rest. You will be better, but the only way to get better is to rest your body and mind. Let go, and "let God." Best wishes, Cathie

Hey Lynn! I think the reason you're feeling panicky is because you have been feeling sick. I know when I'm not feeling well physically, I feel worse emotionally. Remember that you were able to get through this before. Know that you can get through it again! I have never had insomnia in my life until this last month. I also got to the point where I would start having panic attacks around dinner time because that meant I had to go battle the night of sleeplessness - yet again. I found some info on a different website about insomnia and I copied it over to a post here. If you look under "search messages" and type in "tips for sleeping" you should be able to find it. The info there helped me - I hope it helps you, too. It takes time but keep working on it. A couple other things in addition to the list in the other post that has really helped me get to sleep is to turn your clock around so you can't see it. Drink Chamomile tea about half an hour before you go to bed. Listening to soothing music or meditation music helps. Taking a warm bath before bed helps. I also read that concentrating on the lights and patterns that you see when you close your eyes helps. The more your mind starts running away from you, the harder you should concentrate on the patterns. Insomnia does not last forever. On average, it lasts about a month. Sometimes longer, but about a month. I know that's long winded, but I hope that helps! Hang in there. You are stronger than you feel - I promise!

I'm back, was off the site for a while was doing allright for a bit, but have had a cold, flu, pneumonia and whatever else now for 4 months. Starting to feel better from the pneumonia but my panic attacks have come back.I can't sleep, right after supper start to panic because the dreaded night is coming. Now I have been getting severe pain in my neck went to emerg. they told me not to worry try muscle relaxants(didn't work) and anti-inflammitories but they make me sick to my stomach. Now have pain all over my head my eyes are going wonky and am very dizzy. I am almost 99'/. sure it's just stress but maybe it's not! That's whats driving me crazy and my husband doen't understand and make me feel worse even my mom who has gone through this just tells me "don't worry about it, whatever is going to happen is going to happen"AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH Sorry to go off on a tangent but i'm sick of being sick, or not? Lynn
