That sounds like a great reward for making it through the two toughest weeks in your quit! If you do a search here, there is a thread call something like Low Cost or No Cost Rewards. It's a great thread, so check it out. I'll look for it when I get a chance and try to "bump" if forward!
This is a great topic. Karren has already offered you some great suggestions. Since you are saving a lot while quitting spending money on something special is a great option. There are also rewards that do not necessarily have to require money; for instance, a long bubble bath, a nice dinner in with a loved one, spending extra time reading a good book, playing a game or watching a favourite program, taking an hour to talk to a friend you haven't talked to in awhile, etc. Rewards can be anything that give you pleasure. What is important about rewards is that you acknowledge your hard work, strength and determination. Even a simple cheers with loved ones to say you made it to day 15 can be a reward of sorts. Many members may also feel rewarded by every reply they receive in a congratulatory thread here. There are a lot of options just but be sure to plan ahead.
For more ideas do a keyword search in the forums or check out session 5 in the program.
Hi Maggie and welcome! I think rewards come in all different guises. For me, I used to save the money I spent on cigarettes and bought something I really would have thought twice about. Immediate rewards were new make up, nail polish, DVD's etc. Long term rewards were a new purse, and even vacations. My justification was and still is four years later, that I would have spent that money on smokes without thinking about it, so to buy something really nice for doing something really special like quitting was a bonus.
Other members have talked about spas or beauty treatments or something really nice for their home. Rewarding is very important, we have done a good job and not always an easy job to give up smoking so our efforts need to be rewarded. I still save my smokes money all these years later, I have paid for new laptops iPads all sorts out of money that would have literally gone up in smoke.
Reward yourself well and let us know what you choose
