Smoking and blindness?!

I am quite sure all of this is true!

Not only do I have a rare form of cancer, (I'm in remission right now,) but I have some COPD and I am receiving treatment from an opthalmologist for Macular Degeneration.  My mother also had this, but she smoked too!  Significant I think!

New Quitters, who read this, please quit early!  It will be worth it and may save your life!

I heard that too Ashley, pretty scary! I also have heard ( from my doctor) that smoking can cause deafness/loss of hearing too? I don't know if there are any academic studies to back this up, but I guess its feasible?

In a study at Queen’s University, a link has been established between smoking and macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is known to cause blindness in the older adult.

Smoking has also been linked to other forms of illness…
•    Colorectal, pancreatic, lung and other forms of cancer
•    Diabetes
•    Hypertension, heart disease, heart attack, stroke and peripheral vascular disease

And much more! Aren’t you glad you quit?
