Hello jazzkeys,

Thank you for your honesty, the Stop Smoking Center is definitely a great place for you to be if you want the greatest chance to make your quit stick! I would highly recommend working through the milestones of the program. Set aside some time in your day to work through the program as it is full of strategies and mechanisms to help you along. I would especially recommend milestone 4: Getting Ready to Quit as it touches on coping plans and hits on your individual situation. It will allow to explore your own personal triggers, smoking patterns and really hone in on why quitting smoking is important to you. Dive in and know that we are all here to support you along the way. Post often and ask lots of questions!

Members, what words of advice do you have for jazzkeys?

Hi Jazzkeys! You're having some trouble quitting, because like the rest of us, we are addicted .Nictotine is harder to kick than heroine.
Go thru the program here and read all you can read. Knowledge will give you a powerful support for quitting, plus there are alot of wonderful people here who have done it and know the ropes! Best tip? Stay away from smoking freinds and from cocktails for the first while and give yourself a chance to get strong in your quit so you have the stamina to say NOPE when they offer you cigarettes.
Smoking freinds are really bad that way, they want everyone to smoke with them, and with your health issues, smoking is not an option for you anymore, your health is in danger and there is only one thing to do. Stop smoking.
You have come to the right place. Gather yourself a quit kit, with gum, candy, licorice, straws, etc etc to help you keep your mouth, hands and mind busy for a while. Nicotine is out of your system is three days. Take it one day at a time, we all know how fast our time goes, all of a sudden you'll be at 100 days! Get yourslef quit, stay positive and kick that nicodemon to the curb!

I have been smoking since I was 15 and only thought of quitting when I got COPD. I never thought it would get to that.
I quit for a short time, then got pneumonia, I quit again for about 4 months. A family wedding helped me to start again.
Now I have been fighting bronchitis for about a month now and quit dec 23rd, only yesterday I ran into a friend who offered
me a cigarette, I told him I'd quit but after a couple of offers, I found myself holding a cigarette and smoking it. This morning
I bought a pack. I smoked most of them, while talking to a good friend on line, he convinced me to shred the rest and give it up.
So here I am quitting again, this site was recommended to me as a good place to be. I am 59 years old and want to quit smoking.
I'm having a hard time finding my way here so I'm just following the prompts for now and reading.
I surely need to quit right now and am happy to be here.
