Wanna hear my new freaky fear?

Don't worry about the soreness. It means whatever you did is working you just did a bit too much! I am a work out nut myself. Stretch after you work the muscle. Always after, you never want to stretch a muscle that is not warmed up. But don't stretch when you are sore, you can pull a muscle!!! The baths and some ibuprofen would be best. Some muscle pain is very scary though. Sometimes if I lift weights, I get chest pain the next day. I know its only muscle apin, but its still freaky. I know how it is to work someting small into a big fear. Right now, I am sooo afraid that I am going to have a panic attack during labor! I have been reading some pregnancy books about delivery and am convinced I will freak and they will have to knock me out or something. Thats a freaky fear.

try stretching before and after you exercise that is a mistake a lot of people make. good luck on the soreness. keep soaking in that warm water and do some stretching exercises.

I wish I had your symptoms Bygrace. The physical ones offcourse, you may keep the anxious thoughts. I have enough of those myself. ;p Having those pains would mean I did some exercise, I did not for years. We just seem to need something that keeps our mind, our fears, busy, isn't it? I feel addicted to fears sometimes myself. Who would I be without them? Is there a me without those fears? And offcourse this thought scares me too. :confuse:

Dear Grace, This is something I do know about. When I started my exercise program a year ago to lose the Paxil weight I gained, I WAS SORE!!! I rode the "exercycle" had such pain down my leg from my butt and back for 2 weeks! Then I tried lifting weights, big mistake, I konked my neck out and had horrible headaches, tried sit-ups and crunches, pulled tummy mucles, I even "spotted" if you know what I mean from all that stomach pulling! I stopped and just started "power-walking" every night for 30-40 minutes, at least its good exercise and I do not hurt myself! I have that pain in the upper front thigh region you mentioned, its from walking, but it does not scare or concern me its not bad and I know what it is from, you do not have bone cancer, its just ligaments joints and mucsles, I had all kinds of aches and pains from exercising, now I just walk and its good! Good luck, go slow with the exercise, the pain should get better. Sending prayers GOd bless, Debbie.

Bygrace - if it makes you feel any better, my muscles and any sensation they have is my current anxiety obsession. I am currently seeing a neurologist because I feel like I have MS or some other neuro disease. The MS seed got planted months ago when I, too, woke up with stiff legs and couldn't figure out why. (it was from exercise, but I just didn't think they should be *that* stiff) I started researching muscular symptoms, and in that found a symptom list for MS, Parkinsons, and ALS. I discovered I had many of the other symptoms (vision issues, twitching, stiffness, weakness, etc etc) and my body decided to mimic all the symptoms to the TEE. I haven't been the same since, anxiety wise. I couldn't even exercise for a short time because I was so afraid of muscular aches and pains, they had become a major trigger in my panic. Do yourself a favor and do not do any research on muscular issues. You are just sore! And yes, soreness/stiffness can last for days. When I work out, sometimes my soreness/stiffness gets gradually worse for 2-3 days before it gets better. Its normal. AP

Okay, here is my freaky fear for the week. Of course, a new week, a new freak fear I must muster up. So, about 9 days ago I had a very hard work out at the gym on my legs. So the next day I am fine. Day 2...I am hurting and Day 3, I could not sit on the pew at church. No joke, I could hardley walk! Looked like a total idiot. I figured of course, it was the work out, right??! Here we are on day 9 and I can tell you that my thighs are still so sore to the touch I am soaking in Epson salt hot baths!!!! They hurt on the top and inside and I am thinking I should be over this by now, so being that thought, what horrid disease can I come up with? Some muscle thing that will leave me unable to walk? Perhaps a nerve thing? hmmmm. A blood clot in both legs have passed my mind. THEY should not still be hurting like this right????? I am no queen of exercise so someone give the girl a encouraging word. I may have to look up bone disease tonight... :p
