HI ALL ...I AM BACK AND THINKING ABOUT TRYING CHANTIX

12 years ago 0 11214 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Congratulations on getting through the holidays! Managing the stress of the holidays smoke free is a big hurdle.

Fearing the return of smoking is normal. Let this drive you to remain smoke free. The longer you stay smoke free the more confident you will become in your ability to stay away from smoking. How do you think you will feel when you realize you have not only quit but you have become a non smoker?

I have remained smoke free thoughout the Holidays......whew....what a relief!!  I had lots of moments...but made it though!!  I have been smoke free for over 3 months now!!  I am off the chantix in 2 weeks....I am majorly anxious about this for fear that smoking will return.   I need to stay strong and know that wanting to smoke is going to be a part of my life......but actually smoking is a choice I am able to make now and I am chosing not to start up again, I have come to far to turn back now!  I need all of you to pray for me and know that I will be writing on my blog alot more often when off the chantix.  I hope everyone had a great holiday season and to all the future quitters out there........YOU CAN DO IT!!

Just wanted to drop in and update everyone.......I have done great on the chantix and have been smoke free for a couple of  months now.  I channel my attention to working out and making myself over into a totally healthy person inside and out.  I also have dropped caffeine out of my lifestyle as well.  I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and walk 2 miles on my off days,  I also box....I really enjoy the cardio from the boxing!!  I have noticed that my lungs still need some more healing as they sometimes make me feel out of breath, more the capacity needs to be built up..  I have so much energy now....where as before on chantix I had all I could do to think past making it out of the bed.  I still have days like that but then I think about what I could be doing and I go!  I am about to go off the chantix program and I do struggle with urges, so I am gonna need to lean on y'all now more than ever.  I don't ever wanna look back and start that nasty habit back up!!

Hi Cowgirl,

Glad to hear you are doing much better.  It's incredibly hard to put the pieces of your life back together when you have lost a loved one.  It sounds like you are taking all the right steps though, even if they feel like baby ones and even if you feel you've taken a couple steps backwards.  The important part is that you don't give up and don't lose sight of your goals.    Your plan to make a plan for your quit is a good one!!
Read through as many threads as you can on this site to get more tips on how to deal with cravings.  Review the information in the toolbox section of the website for an emergency coping plan and recognizing withdrawal symptoms.
Post with us often, especially in the first couple weeks which tend to be the most difficult.  You can do it though and we are here to help you!!

What are 3 reasons you wish to quit smoking?  Write these down on a piece of paper and carry it with you - read it over during times you find you may be struggling and pledge to have a smoke free day every day.
Thinking of you,

I am doing better....unfortunately smoked 3 today but thats way better then I have done since I have began this journey with chantix.  I have alot of things that I battle with...Trying to get back into working with panic attacks..and driving with panic attacks.  I started the job the 3 day of chantix...and had to get help to drive to and from work....someone following me to help build my confidence back up to do it alone..which is working cause I am able to drive home alone from work.......and I am back to work...2 weeks now....!!  Lost my daddy 2 and a half months ago........the hardest thing to deal with ever......so, I think over all, I am doing pretty well considering all that I am battling besides quitting smoking!!  I am working really hard to continue quitting smoking.........and I know with the help of chantix and my friends here, I have the tools I need to complete my journey and be smoke free!!  Any suggestions are welcome.........

Glad you've been able to continue with the chantix. Sounds like it's doing it's job in replacing the chemicals in your brain. At some point you need to stop smoking though. Have you set a quit date? Hope you've read the stuff that comes with the pills. Usually they recommend stopping around the 2 week mark. Let us know how it's going

Day 15 of chantix....still smoking maybe 5 cigarettes a day....major improvement to my 2 packs a day or more after my daddy passed almost 3 months ago.  Never smoked that much before ....but its time for the quit forever....  I don't  feel the need for a cigarette as much....and can work without the need to sneak out to smoke....LOL  nice change.  I am hoping to be totally quit next week.  Thank you all for your encouraging emails and your friendship through this journey!!

Hi Cowgirl!  Hope you're feeling better today!  Keep up the good work.  This is temporary and you can do this thing!  Hope that new job is going well too.  Take care of yourself.   Eyja
