Just want to say to everybody to keep on keeping on. Some have a harder time of it than others but at this point in my quit I can honestly say that it is so worth it. I was one of the ones that didn't think I'd ever feel good again and it took a long time but it does get better and it is possible. William , you're doing awesome. Excellent for you. breather Don

Breather -what a interesting and novel idea!  You are always so incisive.  I too was bent out of shape for awhile after I had that dream but fortunately I have not had one since.

eli ray  your stats are building nicely . Great Job ! You may want to join in on some of the pledge discussions even though you are doing so well with your quit.

William - Free and Healing for Five Months, Sixteen Days, 9 Hours and 38 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 20 Days and 14 Hours, by avoiding the use of 5929 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $2,686.74.

In regard to smoking dreams. I don't normally remember my dreams but one smoking dream that I did have was terrible. I was smoking in the dream and when I woke up I could actually smell and taste it. It seemed so real but of course I wasn't smoking. I was bent out of shape for hours. What I did was to get some small plastic " no smoking " signs that I could look at before I went to sleep. If I saw that I wasn't allowed to smoke in my dreams before going to sleep then I wouldn't entertain any smoking dreams. That was a couple of years ago and I haven't had one since. Funny how the brain works. Excellent for you not smoking. breather

eli ray....I SO UNDERSTAND THE DREAMS!  I have had them since I quit (60 days tomorrow) I went nicotine free cold turkey....and I still have them.  I had one last night that I had to ask myself later during the day if I actually did take a hit off of one...then after I realized that there was NO WAY....I knew it was a bad dream.  I seem to dream the same thing  all the time.  (I start to smoke a cigarette then notice I am actually smoking a cigarette and say "What am I doing?  I came so far and now I blew it all" so when I do wake up I feel pretty ****ty also and let down.  Just know that this drug is still in our minds even though it is not in our body...that damn mind sure can play tricks on us when we are sleeping.

HANG IN THERE...I have heard it gets better...and praying for the day it does.

Willis...Hey can't message you..hope all is good!

eli ray , you should listen to Vincenza (she's really smart you know, check out her bio!) she is right. The positive aspect of the smoking dream is it lets you experience what it would feel like to smoke that cigarette without really smoking it. And it doesn't feel very good at all. In fact you will wish you never did it but with a dream that wish comes true !  Then it's Yippee !!!!  I'm still quit !! WOOHOO !!!!

Hi eli ray,
You are doing amazing!  Although the vivid dreams you're having are disturbing, you can think of them as reminders of how awful you would feel should you actually give in to the temptation to smoke.
Remember N.O.P.E.  I imagine these dreams will fade away as you continue to stay strong and smoke-free.
Keep it up! Vincenza, Health Educator

WOW !  You're doing GREAT eliray ! Oh.... and your dream?  I'll bet you there isn't one of us here who hasn't had THAT dream !  don't worry that will fade like all the nightmares that tobacco has brought us.

Soooooo good to see you doing so well eli !!

wow, thanks everyone for the great support!
i have been doing really well... i am super surprised how easy it is to quit when you really want to and put your mind to it. i have been in a fantastic mood, feeling really great about myself and can honestly say i have been without very serious cravings most of this second week...

one weird thing though, almost every night since i've quit - i've had a nightmare about buying myself a pack of smokes and smoking one or more and then feeling awful in the dream and waking up. at first when i wake up i can't tell that it was a dream so i feel really bad that i've wasted all of my hard work on a cigarette and then i slowly come to realize that it was a dream, so i feel slightly better, but it's still such a downer! because i hardly think of smoking at all during the day anymore.

has anyone had anything like this? if so, any suggestions other than just stick it out?

thanks again!
