22 Days Free but feeling heavy chest...HELP

Hi Debby,

Medically the nicotine is gone from lab testing in 72 to 96 hours.  However, if you are exposed to second hand smoke, it will affect the levels in your body and can trigger a reaction.  Even though the nicotine is out of your system in a few days, it will take the body a lot longer to readjust.  However, benefits begin as soon as you quit.
Other triggers may be affecting your breathing such as air pollution or allergies.
As I mentioned earlier though, I recommend seeing your health care practitioner to address your concerns.

Thanks everyone...I have another question...ho long does it take for your lungs to detox from nicotine?  I thought I was through the withdrawls already......will call the dr and see when he can get me in....(He makes it very hard to get in to see him.....time to find a new doctor...or maybe I will go to the after hours clinic)
Thanks everyone..
And THANKS for noticing that it is almost a FULL MONTH!  I AM SO EXCITED!  I do NOT CRAVE IT!  I am so HAPPY TO BE FREE OF NICOTINE....

I am an Addict and I am not using....that is what nicotine has made me feel like...and I believe it is in the drugs catagory.  Nicotine is the WORST...Easiest drug to get...because it is LEGAL....let's home the prices of cigarettes go UP....and home more people stop.

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!  I come here EVERY DAY...if only to read.  THIS SITE HAS HELPED ME STAY CLEAN!

Hi Debby,
The wheezing symptoms you are experiencing could be the fact that your body is in the process of nicotine detoxification.  However, I agree with seeing your doctor as well to rule out any other causes.  Hope this soon passes!  congratulations on making it to almost 1 month.  We're rooting for you!!

I agree with Ready2Quit, seeing a doctor would be advisable. It could be something do to with your sinus's or some other health matter. Please take care of yourself. *hugs*

I'd suggest just going to the doctor. I see you're in the United States and I know you have to pay there, but if it's affordable, you should go - if only for peace of mind.

It will be 23 days in less then 12 hours...and I have a heavy feeling in my chest.  I am starting to weeze like when I was younger and had ashma...I never coughed up stuff like others told me they did and I would.  I am coughing some now but nothing like when I actually smoked!  I have been totally clean of nicotine since 6-13-2011 at 10:00pm...so I guess I don't know what this means...anyone else have this???  I am not around smokers and have not slipped...but I am weezy....CRAZY STUFF!  I DO FEEL BETTER but I do NOT like this AT ALL!  HELP PLEASE? ANYONE!
Thanks
Debby
