I need some help about this program

Hiya Fran. :) I really liked doing the preliminary steps of this program. I thought that it really prepared me for a long-term quit. Even if I didn't have all the answers right then, I could sleep on them and it made a difference. Good luck to you! There are lots of awesome people here and information, too!

Hi, Skier.  Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.  You must be a tax preparer.  I can understand your desire to wait.

Hang around, read posts, ask questions, and learn about what you're planning on doing.  Knowledge is power and it is very helpful to have an idea of what you might experience when you do take the plunge.  I say "might" because every quit is different.  Your experience will be as unique as you are, but there are some typical symptoms and side effects that most have.  Understanding them and knowing the truth of them really helps.

We're here for you before and after you take that last puff.

my experience has been read information from this site and others.  Prepare to quit, quit, prepare to quit an quit again. I started a clendar and marked the number of days I didn't smoke and then made a goal to go more days the next month.  Then decided that I didn't want to go through the pain again so didn't start again.  I had quit for 2 or 3 years before this, but started to cheat on girls weekends.  I have been through this enough that I know that NOPE is the only way it will work.

Skier, nobody's gonna hold a gun to your head. Do this on your own terms, when you're ready. Good idea to prepare and then totally commit when you're ready. Looking forward to seeing you become smoke free

I want to start the program after 04/15/11, the end of TAX season.  At this time I don't have the time to even think about it.  Now I am going to work on cutting the cigarettes down each day.  I thought after the April 15, I would start studying and preparing for the quit and set my date at that time.  Am I all screwed up on how this program works?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Fran
