Still Haven't started my Zoloft

Hi Becky, When I was first diagnosed with Panic Disorder over 4 years ago, I was prescribed Zoloft. I took about 3 doses and started to get side effects which were worse then the panic/anxiety so I stopped taking them. That was the only medication I took, I still have the anxiety but now that I am educated on what it actually is and the fact that no harm can come from it I have been able to overcome the panic attacks. It's great that you have been feeling better, hopefully you won't need the medication. Good luck Donna

Hi Becky, I would give the Zoloft a shot. A few years back I was very leary of trying meds. The first medication I was on was Zoloft 50mg and it helped me. I think 12.5 is a low dose, I have a friend on 200mg. I wouldn't cut that low of a dose in half. Currently I am on Prozac and it has really helped I am glad that I started taking it. You have nothing to lose by trying it except some your anxiety symptoms. Take care.

If you really feel better and think you can do without the meds, then go for it. You can always start them up again. I go thru periods where I am okay without the meds. I stopped about 6 weeks ago and have been okay for the most part. You just have to learn how to deal with those moments.

I was determined to start my zoloft tonight. But I have been feeling good the last couple days, so I don't know what to do. I hate anxiety and depression, I go through short, and they usually are short periods of time that I do feel better and feel like I don't need meds. When the relapses occur, I wish I had went ahead and started taking medication. I don't know what to do, it's ridiculous being afraid of everything. Becky

I got off Zoloft for a few months and tried other medications but they did not work as well for me...and now I am back on Zoloft (it's been almost 8 months now) and am taking 200mg a day (England standards) and it really has helped me with my anxiety and panic attacks... Good luck!!!

I REALLY think you should give it a try. Do exactly what your doc says. It will help the depression and anxiety. Zoloft even made my tension headaches go away. I am very jealous of you and your zoloft :) Haha, just kidding. I am pregnant and was advised not to take it in the 1st trimester. Also, you can find a bad story about anything if you try. Plus, not all websites give reliable info out. Trust me, try the zoloft. In a few weeks, you will be posting how great it worked.

It's been over a month now and I sit looking at the Zoloft, but I still can't bring myself to take it. I guess I should quit reading about the bad experiences from Zoloft. The doctor told me to start at 12.5 mgs. I have thought about breaking the 12.5 in half. Has anyone done that? How do I bring myself to take the Zoloft? Also, I do feel that my anxiety and depression are much worse because of stress. I just started a new job plus I've had some pretty bad family problems the last couple years. Does anyone know if the Zoloft will help if the anxiety and depression are being made much worse by stress. I need help. I would appreciate any input. Thanks Becky
