Thanks so much all. You brought me to tears with your words of encouragement. Another day done and I have been reading through the forums. I didn't do it much in the last few days and it really made yesterday hard so I will have to check in a few times a day to remind me of why I am doing this. Thanks again. Hope

Hey  Hope!!!

Congrats on making it through Hell and Heck Weeks!!!  Awesome accomplishment!!!  Stay strong and keep finding distractions that will keep your mind off smoking!  If you are strong enough to get this far, just keep on telling yourself that you can handle  ANYTHING that the ol' nico-demon can throw your way!!!

Yell when you need a hand and we'll be there!!!  Read and learn as much as you can from the program and from the advice from your fellow quit buddies here!  Knowledge is power and you will need as much as you can obtain to gain your freedom!!!  Keep right on telling yourself that you  CAN  do this, as the power of a Positive Mental Attitude will take you far on this journey!!!  So keep busy and have a great smoke-free weekend!

Hi Hope. Sleep as much a you need to. Quitting smoking is exhausting at first. Make sure you have a quit kit. I recommend having sugar-free candy and gum, and be sure to drink lots of ice cold water. The water will help flush out all of the toxins. Cold water also increases your metabolism, which helps to keep weight off. Our metabolisms slow down when we quit, partly because our heart no longer has to work as hard (the cause of the increase in heart disease among smokers). Lastly, remember to breathe. Really try to relax through the cravings. As you beat back each one, it will get easier. That is the one promise we can make. Again, welcome.

Hi Hope,

Welcome to the online support community and huge congratulations on being quit for 16 days! The first month of your quit is often referred to as "zombie month". Throughout the first month the cravings can be quite intense and you can start to feel tired of fighting the cravings. Be sure to stay strong and keep in mind that with time the cravings will taper off. I strongly encourage you to use the online program, read through the forums and post often. We are all here to support and encourage each other.

Hi: I never really introduced myself because this is the first time I have ever been on anything like this and I was a little nervous. I am now 16 days smoke free and trying to fill another weekend and stay smoke free. As I said on another forum it is really hard. I feel like going to bed and I just finished supper. I will stick it out. Hop
