I am also on Lexapro, and my doctor says that for the first few days anxiety will increase, as it takes time for your body to get used to the medication. Tell your mom not to stop taking it even though it seems worse right now. It gets worse before it gets better. Hang in there!

Thanks for the reply... :) It has been five days now, for my Mum taking Lexapro, I spoke to her on the phone today she told me since taking Lexapro she has become more anxious and more depressed. How many days does Lexapro start working, and these side effects she is getting goes away? Thankyou, Ruby.....

My husband takes lexapro for GAD. He got worse for awhile before he got better. I think he was fine after about 7 days. Now, he is so glad he is on it and thinks it has changed his life for the better.

Thanks bygrace.... When I spoke to her on the phone today, you can tell by her voice that she was depressed more. She feels that she is never going to get better. She is really a mess. Ruby............. :)

Yes. It seems like the first week is worse than others. Have her hang in there, it does get better!

Hi Everyone, Well as I posted last time the doctor has put my Mum on Lexapro. Today is the fourth day of taking it. She seemed a bit more depressed today but, so I was wondering if the Lexapro could be causing this. Ruby.........
